joshxdm9
Looking for some guidance for load data.. I shoot a XDM canyon Creek custom 5.25. I have been loading 9mm and .45 bayou with titegroup but looking to switch to vv n320 for .40 major loads. I know there is a lot of info on bayou with n320 but have not seen much info from a XDM. ANY XDM limited major shooters out here to share there pet load with bayou would be appreciated. Edited January 11, 2014 by joshxdm9
waktasz
It wouldn't be any different from any other 180gr n320 bayou loads posted here. Start with 4 grains and build up. My load, loaded short for Glock mags, is around 4.2 grains.

onebadeye
I forgot you shoot that long barrel, it takes me 4.4 in my
waktasz
That's not that far off. Even my 5" STI barrel makes major with a very similar load and moly bullets.
earthshine402
For a factory G35 barrel, I loaded 4.45gr n320 behind 180 gr Ibejiheads (similar to Bayou), 1.138" OAL - chrono'd a168PF at 2013 A7, and 170PF on my chrono. I will probably bump it up to 4.5gr.
msg73
You should start around 4.0-4.1gr and work your way up. In my 5" M&P pro, I use 4.35gr @ 1.13" for ~169pf (180gr Ibejiheads)
joshxdm9
Well after gathering info i settled in on 4.2 n320 at 1.140 Did not chrono yet but shot 7, 10, and 25yrds 7 yards awsome tight group 10 yards opened up to about 4" 25 yards all over the place Read a couple threads on crimp and the use of a lee factory crimp die and it seemed most people did not like for their .40 major loads have changed out to a dillon taper die loaded some up same 4.2 and oal. Been to cold to test. Will post results

joshxdm9
LEE FCD is only for jacketed.. it swages down lead/ coated lead.. yeah I have only been loading for a couple years and mostly loaded 9mm and some .45 the lee fcd came with a set that I had traded for and knew something felt a little different when I ran them threw my press so after reading forums here learned about the difference and switched to taper die. Neomet
Do not overcrimp moly. You will get all kinds of ugliness for your efforts.
joshxdm9
Well tried 4.2 n320 oal 1.145 with new dillon taper crimp die last night in 20° weather and not sure if it was the weather but groups at 10 yards were terrible and most shots were left???
