Cutting a barrel

I have a 20" barrel in my AR it is too long and too heavy can I cut it down and have it re-threaded and also turn it down to a slimmer profile

Yes adco can turn and cutdown a barrel. I'd still consider selling the barrel and putting that money towards a new barrel in a profile you want though.

I have no experience turning barrels that sized and threaded on the ID already but it sounds like it would be easy to open up a can of worms you don't want to. Heat, tool pressure, and setup issues will make turning the OD difficult to do without altering the straightness and concentricity the barrel.

Or just post a WTT ad, you'd be amazed how easy it is to get what you want.

Cutting down, lightening, crowning, and threading a barrel can be done. We do it quite often at Triangle Shooting Sports.
