dee loo Posted November 5, 2013 Share Posted November 5, 2013 Another option to consider would be Alliant's Clay Dot, it is a direct substitute for Clays in shotgun target loads. There is no published data for pistol, but I've read on several threads on 1911 forum of it being successfully used in place on Clays for pistol loads. Just start low and work up. 8ring Posted November 19, 2013 Share Posted November 19, 2013 I use 4.6 to 4.7gr American Select under a 200gr Lead SWC in both my 1911 and CZ 97b. Both get around 850-to 875 fps. The 2004 Alliant Reloading Manual says that 5.4 gr American Slect would be the maximum load with that bullet. The same manual also lists 4.9gr as the maximum load with a 230gr Jacketed Hollow Point. I use 4.4gr American Select under a 230gr Zero FMJ in my 1911 to easily make major PF. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
