Bassman
I have a new STI Perfect 10, and some old style SVI .40 S&W mag tubes. The tubes will not let the mag release return back to flush in the frame. I have tried a mag release out of another gun, and it is the same. I am looking for some advise, should I work on the mag release, or the notch in the mag tubes? Thanks!
HI5-O
Try and check if the mag is touching/hitting the ejector. Also check if the mag release fits in the cut in the mag tube (take the mag release out of the gun).
yoshidaex
What length tube and which basepads are you using?
Bassman
I have 140MM tubes with dawson bases.
yoshidaex
Depending on the magwell that's on the gun, there might be an interference between the magwell and basepad. Try installing just the tube to see if it will lock the mag catch properly.
Bassman
Mag release still hangs up with just the tube, and no base.
yoshidaex
Sounds like HI5-O might be correct. Try removing the slide and reinstall the mag tube to see if the mag catch will sit flush with the tube installed. Its possible the mag is sitting too high up due to a improperly cut mag catch hole. kamikaze1a
IIRC some SV mag catch holes were different from STI's...something to do with new and old design.
Steve RA
Leave the mag catch out and push the tube in and look thru the mag catch hole and see where the hole in the mag body is in relation to the mag catch location. From here it seems possible that you will need to raise the top of the hole in the mag body.
Bassman
Leave the mag catch out and push the tube in and look thru the mag catch hole and see where the hole in the mag body is in relation to the mag catch location. From here it seems possible that you will need to raise the top of the hole in the mag body. I raised the top of the hole in the mag tube. Works fine now.
