Training with timer

What are some of the training a shooter should do to improve time during live fire practices?

And what is the time to aim for on the clock for those drills.

I am working on sub second draw fire, but wanted to know some other times.

I started out using Steve Anderson's dry fire book. This book is laid out real nice, with the drills, and sheets for recording your times. Then there is a column to record your live fire times, on the same drills.

Can't for the life of me remember the name of the book :surprise:

Stoeger has a table of times for drills in his Skills and Drills book.

To improve times for live-fire practices do dry-fire.

Anderson's dry fire books has goal times for his drills. For the ones he doesn't list times he explains how to get a baseline time and how much to reduce the time for improvement. This approach will be good for your live-fire.

The books by these two guys have been recommended all over this forum. It's worth repeating.

No one can argue that practice makes perfect however only perfect practice makes perfect.

I understand your reasoning behind this but I will have to disagree. If you don't make errors then you will not make any improvement. Make the errors then fix them.
