Small pistol primers

Are small pistol primers interchangeable with small rifle primers and or small pistol magnum primers for 9 Minor?..... not using a gun subject to light strikes.

yes, but the same is not true for Large pistol & large rifle.

Depending on powder used, the small magnum will add a few feet per sec.

I use small rifle in my 40 and 223 i once read that the rifle primers use a harder cup (not sure if it is grade of steel or thickness) but have never had an issue using the rifle primers. Supposedly the Federal pistol cups are a little softer.

Be advised that it has been reported that using magnum primers with minor loads can cause breach face erosion, also rifle. Just do a search for breach face erosion.

I use what ever I find in 9 major with no issues SPM, SRP, SPP. It is the minor loads that I understand are the issue not enough pressure to seal the primer. I think the last post I read on it was with Tula Small Rifle primers causing an issue in about 300 rounds.

I have have been using small pistol magnum primers in my 9mm minor loads the last few matches without any issues.

You can use the SRP in pistol, but it is NOT recommended to use SPP in rifle.
