Don Springer
Momma has given me the go ahead to get a 2011. The closest club to me shoots mainley IDPA and holds a weekley match so it'll be an STI Eagle. I also shoot 3 gun 4 or 5 times a year so would like to get it in 9mm. I'd like to get into USPSA as well as we have a club fairley close by that holds monthly matches. My question, can I run 9mm minor in limited? I plan on reading the rulebook cover to cover several times but I'm looking for a quick answer to this one so I can get the gun ordered before the ban. Thanks in advance. kneelingatlas
Sure you can shoot Limited Minor with a 9mm; 40 is the minimum caliber for Major in Limited, but it's 38 for Minor. Edited December 17, 2012 by kneelingatlas
Don Springer
Saweet. I plan on having an upper built in 40 for it when I put together more coin. I just wanna make sure I've got all my base covered first. Thanks.
Tuflehundon
Most of the guys I shoot with use a .40 in Limited for Major. But there are a couple of guys that use a 9. Sometimes they have a good advantage due to the few extra rounds they can get in the mags. (23 vs 20)
Chuck Anderson
You'll be at a disadvantage shooting 9mm but not a huge one. You'll have higher capacity and less recoil. You just score less for anything out if the A zone. Just keep it tight accuracy wise for USPSA and you'll do fine. For what you plan to do with it 9mm sounds like a perfect choice. Hi-Power Jack
An alternative is to get it in .40, and shoot minor for IDPA/Multigun and .40 major for USPSA. Don't have to have more coin to buy a .40 upper, and reload one caliber.
