HI5-O
Civil Defense sirens sounding, we are under a tsunami warning with the first wave expected to hit Hawaii at 10:28pm (it's 8:29pm now). Hopefully all goes well (fingers crossed). A 7.7 earthquake off of the west coast of Canada generated significant wave heights. Last one we had was the Japan earthquake in 2011. Waiting for the call to go to work. Edited October 28, 2012 by HI5-O
Modoc
Positive thoughts headed in your direction. Our own coast here is vulnerable too. May all be safe.

HI5-O
So far, so good. Little activity but the experts are saying the bigger wave(s) may be coming yet. Traffic cameras show some idiots on the beaches
HI5-O
Kahului Harbor had a 5 ft wave where the sea level rose 2.5 ft. Still waiting...
blaster113
so far relatively small wave activity, looks like less than the 2011 wave. I don't understand the party atmosphere that happens every time we have one of these tsunamis. people want to drink and have a good time when there's a damn tidal wave about to hit. I was scrambling and getting ready to report in for duty when I found out about this thing a few hours ago; wife's friends were drinking and wanted to come over and party. WTF WTF Went to the only gas station/convience store still open in the town area after the first wave was supposed to hit and they got cleaned out of cigarettes, beer and gasoline. Priorities.
