threads on an SVI Mag release

Anybody know what the threads are on a SVI mag release 4-40 or 5-40?

SPECS: Steel, matte blue finish. Tapped, 4-40 tpi.

STI mag catch from Brownell's. I have a STI button on my SV mag release and it went in correctly. Buy extra's if you order the screws, they aren't easy to find locally.

Why can't I loctite the button on? They make a "blue" loctite that can be removed if need be. Is there a reason not to loctite the mag button?

Use blue, be sure not to get it inside the body of the release, it can lock up the spring. Larry

I don't loctite them since you need to remove mag release to deep clean the gun.

I also found a source for the Allen head 4-40 screws. RC Hobby shop. There are used to secure motors in the little race cars. 4 for 99 cents!

If you don't Loctitite the button, it's going to end up in the same place my Dawson LoPro button is: downtown nowheresville. All it takes is a little heat to loosen it. Who actually cleans their gun anyway?

Like Eric said, use Loctite. How often do you really need to take the trigger out?

i use LOCTITE #222 low strength

it even says on the label for 1/4" and smaller

works good

and still easy to remove without heat

just remember to clean both threads of oil, etc.

i use LOCTITE #7649 primer before assmbly

No loctite needed. Use a very small O-ring under the screw.

I have found that on screws that have to be removed often

use super glue just a drop on the threads works fine. it holds buttons in well and when you want to remove it just a little preasure and it unscrews freely.

and if you happen to get the glue in the wrong place, just a little heat and you can clean it up nicely.
