Paul-the new guy
How good of a trigger job can I get using stock STI parts? I have a few STI guns and I have put extreme kits in all of them. I have been very happy with the results but it is a bit pricey. I would like to duplicate the trigger on my other guns as close as possible without spending $100+ on the parts. Are the stock STI parts good enough quality to get a good trigger job?
Will_M
You can get a pretty nice trigger pull on the STI parts in my opinion. The problem lies in the durability of the trigger job. It may/probably won't last as long as a good trigger job done on your Extreme Engineering parts.
Paul-the new guy
Can you give me an idea how long a trigger job should last? How will I know when it is ending its useful life? Hammer follow or maybe get all creepy like aunt bunny? Then do you have to replace the parts or just get them stoned and put in a new spring? Aircooled6racer
Hello: Use an EGW hard sear and it will last a very long time. Thanks, Eric
kalaur
Hello: Use an EGW hard sear and it will last a very long time. Thanks, Eric +1 EGW hard sear and either Koenig hammer or EGW HD hammer. Do the trigger job once, and don't look back.
Service Desk
After 30K rounds on my PPC 1911 I gave the STI sear a freshen up with a few strokes of a ceramic stone and the hammer hooks got the same few strokes, put it back together and I am good to go for another 30K... So far I have had excellent service out of STI sears and hammers. YMMV

I got my STI Ranger III down to a perfectly crisp 2lb brake w/ all the stock ign parts and an EGW spring. after about 10k i gave the sear another polish and checked the hammer hooks and all is still good.
