Fire lapping?

Is fire lapping a handgun barrel worth it? A company called NECO makes kits to do this and was curios if anybody has used them or is it something better for long guns.

I am a novice, so I don't have a deep understanding about these kind of things yet, so forgive me if this should be an obvious issue to me.

The final finish stuff that David Tubbs sells is partly used to salvage a barrel with a rough throat.

I don't think it would hurt you that much , But I don't think it would help ether. But the barrel will clean up much faster when you push a patch through it.

If it was free I would not do it though

I have done it on surplus rifles to reduce leading. Soft cast bullets and grinding compound. Not rocket science but you have to be careful.

If your barrel isn't pitted I would not do it. What problems are you trying to fix with fire lapping?
