Shadowrider
I guess this explains why the SR1911s are unobtanium. Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE-RGR), announced today that for the first quarter 2012, the Company has received orders for more than one million units. Therefore, the Company has temporarily suspended the acceptance of new orders. Full article Edited March 23, 2012 by Shadowrider

Paul Santiago
I was at a local gunshop in december. That had 25 SR1911's come in and a Ruger rep. They were gone before lunch.
iShootguns
This is not just Ruger, this is the case for most of the industry. In the middle of March, S&W was backordered almost as much as their total sales last year. Getting Colt AR-15s in any sort of volume? Yeah, good luck. I don't know if it's the upcoming election, or people being scared of the end of the world/whatever or a combination of both, but guns are going pretty darn fast. In mid-January, the shop I work at had our one week long anniversary sale. We started with 82 S&W M&P15 Sport models, we had sold them all before the sale ended and now we can't get them replaced. I hope this year doesn't turn out to be 2008/2009 all over again.
RIIID
I did a full on custom Ruger 1911 for a customer, it's a good base gun to start with. I didn't get any photos, the client snatched it up before I could. Rich
