shotgun porting question

I did a search did not find what I was looking for. Maybe a dumb question but, if mag na ported and a ghost ring sight, can it only be shot in open 3 gun class? thanks B

yep-open...due to the porting.

I asked the same question a few months back, and yes, poted barrels put you in open. However, my Mossberg barrel did come with porting, but it was far enough back on the barrel that I made some steel .015 shims and covered the open ports using the magazine clamp to hold them in place. Tried using .008 thick ones, but they creased pretty quick.

Ghost ring is fine, ports put you in open. I would try ghostrings before you add them. Personally I do better with a bead over any of the other sights. For a shotgun, the porting is highly overrated especially for the loads we use

I tried bead only on a Mossberg 930, with slugs, it was around 4" high at 25 yards. I just kept the porting, and stuck on a Primary Arms red dot for good slug accuracy and just shoot open.
