9mm 124 .356 and WSF

Hyya folk's, i'm looking to load some Bayou Bullet's they have the 135's which i here are great, but i haven't loaded 9mm before (i've only done shot shell reloading) so i'm going to start with their 124gr at .356. (I e-mailed Donnie and these is what he has i guess no more 125's) i really want to use WSF as i have allot of it. My Lyman book has load data for 124 jacketed and 120 lead. and the Hodgdon site has a 124gr lead at .355, and 125gr at .356, so i'm a bit puzzled. the Pistol i'm loading for is the XDm 3.8 compact for target work.

from the books and what i read here and other places. i'm thinking at starting at 4.0 at 1.153 O.A.L.' and working up from there. any ideas or warm fuzzy's would be appreciated.

I'm not sure about the powder charge but I typically load my RN 124's at 1.150, the mag can't handle much longer. Also on my xdm the 135's hit the lands at 1.140 so I'm loading those at 1.125. Generally anywhere from 1.135-1.150 works very well in the xdm, you still need to make sure the oal length will work with your bullet profile. OAL varies gun to gun, and dependent on the bullet profile.

For WSF with a 124 jacketed/plated the usual charge is 4.5-4.8 so 4.0 may be on the low side but probably a good place to start.

OAL length numbers that you see and hear are of no use unless they are from a recipe using the exact same bullet and barrel. Seat your first bullet long and drop it in the chamber. It should be obvious that it is hitting the lands. Then seat the bullet .010" deeper at a time until you have the bullet ~.020" off lands. Pretty much what Scoobb said.

From the OPs question, I think a little more reading of reloading manuals is needed.

The bullets you bought are cast lead with a poly-kote. As such, you would use data for lead bullets only. With lead bullets, 121-125gn bullets are really the same.
