Craptacularosity at the Kentucky State Match

Right now I am at a crossroads and trying to decide.

One option is to renew my RO certification and devote 100% of my IPSC time to being an RO.

The other is to start dry firing.

My dear purple Rhino brother,

Here is my advice to you.......

1) focus on your shooting

2) renew your RO cert and help out where you can (BTW, how the hell did you let it expire?? All ya gotta do to keep it current is keep your USPSA membership up to date, and send in the recert test.... )

If you want to look at pathetic performances, take a look at where I finished in the Summer Blast. Sure there was a lot of competition.... sure, the stages were tough for the average shooter.... sure it was 97 degree heat index (during the staff match)... and sure I only had a couple of hours sleep the night before....

However, the thing that haunts me is that I slowed down, focused on getting my hits and not doing anything stupid (which I accomplished)...... and then found out that I finished three or four percent LOWER than my very first Limited Nationals! The disappointing thing is that I shot my first Nationals approximately SIX months after I fired my very first pistol round! :o

This is completely frustrating to me, and I intend to improve. I at least WANT my B card, and right now I am moving backwards! I would love to see you get your RO cert again, and help us out, but I want you to shoot too! Hell, I want ME to shoot too, and I intend to! I am tired of sucking at this, and while I can not see myself ever as a GM, I do think that I can get myself a B card, or maybe even an A card....

Keep the faith bro.... ;)

Thanks for all of the positive feedback, guys.

Dale ... with respect to Mary's shooting ... she is doing very well and she is also a relatively new shooter! I've been doing this for almost ten years and I should have done better. I can do better, I just didn't.

Brian ... I couldn't find my rule book one year to cite the rules on each question, so I never completed my test. Then I got a little more lazy each year after that ...

Man, I'd almost rather RO than dry fire. Dry firing is too much like work! And it probably won't help me anyway ... (note the descent into the whining again) ...

AND DON'T GET ME WRONG ... I had a lot of fun while I was on the range. I even had fun pontificating on the "finer points" of my bad shooting on each stage to my buddies in the squad ahead of me. I just had a little less fun when I saw my place in the scores.

Sure, I know what I need to do improve, and in fact I have been practicing (but not dry firing). I haven't put that much effort into improvement, but I have put enough effort into to see a little more improvement on a consistent basis.

Whining is so much easier than dryfiring!

Rhino I was shooting with the Doctor and your greased lightning cousins. I felt like the gray headed stepchild all day. The Indiana State is coming and you will be on that same squad with me. So we will have to step it up before then. DRY FIRE till you bleed brother cause that is what I am going to do. MIKE............

So, do you have a copy of Steve's book?

No! That would be evidence of premeditated dry firing!

BTW, Mary say's she would have beaten you but she zeroed a stage because her time was not recorded!  :P

She's probably right! She will crush me next month at South Central ... 04 July!

You and Marty spent too much time looking at feet porn the night before to shoot your best at the match!

I did 20 draw and dry fire one with arms and sides and 20 from surrender last night. It was almost more than I could tolerate!

You know that Marty never shares his personal collection with anyone. And your room was next to Marty's. I think you are trying to do some redirection here. But on a more serious note I do need to get the book you are all talking about. I won Limited 10 C class last year. But this year I was so far behind the curve that I could not even see the guy in front of me.

I think I have a couple of good stages in me for tomorrow (Sunday at Riley). After a couple of procedural mistakes, I shot a pretty good IDPA match today. I even shot two of the stages down zero points total. That is unusual for me!

Hey! Most of the good shooters in Limited 10 were at the Buckeye Blast!

It was an accident!

I was impersonated by someone who looks at the front sight!

Most of the good shooters ---- and me! I haven't practiced in quite a while and my shooting on the move skills have really deteriorated. So what do I do at the Blast with 6-8 shots available from a stationary position? You guessed it --- shot 'em slower and with worse points on the move.....

I did a lot of shooting on the move in an IDPA match on Saturday. I was "down zero" on almost every shot! There must have been something in the wind or I was temporarily possessed or something!
