twister
I have a chance to buy a 6" Hunter 10mm, and want to change it to a 40. I already have a Limited in 40,and wondered if the extra 1 1/4" would be worth the expense? I see a lot of shooters are changing to 6" Limited guns, and this would be my chance to change also. Any thoughts you can give me on this change would be greatly appreciated, Dave.
Nealio
I have a 6" .45 and a 4.75" 9mm. I think the extra length helps my .45 track better between shots, but its not as "flickable" as the shorter slide. Which of course isn't as flickable as a poly framed pistol. I feel like I can't move as fast with the longer/heavier guns, but I feel like they are more stable between shots. So depending on what you are doing it may or may not be good. I would think for USPSA it would be good, for Steel Challenge, maybe not so good. I haven't shot my .45 that much though, so I'm going off limited amounts of data. Joe4d
can you find 6" unchambered or .40 barrels ? The only reason I would build a 6" gun is because I cant find a 7" gun. Anything a 5" gun can do a 6" can do better.
david s
It's all about the length. My hunter 10mm also runs a .40 Brily barrel. Very sweet to shoot with MINOR ammo. EAA can order you a barrel. Could take 60 days to come in. I just called them every three weeks or so to check on the 6" 9mm barrel i ordered. They had all calibers for sale. twister
I was curious how much it would cost to get a new barrel. Do you know if they sell a 40 bull barrel?
david s
$150 to $180 for just the barrel from EAA, complete upper runs $250 to $280 depending on length and rear sight.
