KentG
I won a Sierra certificate at a match recently and have been hearing personaly and via boards that lighter bullets may have an edge over heavier ones at close and ranges up to 300ish or more. I have loaded 69 SMK but used the cert for some 52 SMKs. I only have TAC and sierra gave me some starting points for loads as well as Ramshot. Anyone out there use this bullet regularly and how do you like it?
orangeman711
I use the 52 gr. all the time for everything out to 300yds. except MGM Flashers. The flashers are on the heavy side and sometimes will not swing enough when impacted with the 52's.I load them over H-335. They should work well for you.
want2race
I shoot 52's as well. I don't have experience with flashers at 300 but the 200 flashers at the KY multi gun swung just fine. .5 MOA accurate out of my 1/8 twist too. I like them. I've shot them back to back with MK262 and they are significantly lighter in recoil.
biggdawg
The 52 smk is my favorite/most accurate load. i use Re15 and get .45inch groups at 100yds Edited June 9, 2011 by biggdawg
MarkCO
Great bullet, Tac is a bit slow. Ramshot Extermintor, H-335, AA2200 or AA2230 would be a better choice for powder.
dauntedfuture
I think that TAC will be a little slow with the 52g bullets. Load and shoot. If your cases look a little smokey its an indicator that that you might need a little faster powder. Lighter bullets will normally give you a little less recoil and work a comp better but there is no comparrision between light and 68g+ bullets at range or on windy days. at 300 yds you almost have to use 2X the wind that you would need with a 77g bullet.
