OpenDot
3 words: Seated Table Loads. Thanks for the support guys Did my first dryfire session last night with the CZ at the table. Then a little standing up(not for long) I did 20 minutes worth of el pres (without the turn and draw part) so I guess i kind turned it into "Can you count" clasifier but with only 3 targets. I also sat down with the manual and learned everything about my Pocket Pro II timer today. So now I can do alot more dryfire stuff aound the house. Northern AZ Classic is in 3 weeks, i'd like to go shoot that (just to shoot - wont be able to run) if my knee can stand the walking around....we'll see. Only time will tell. In the meantime..back to dryfiring. Oh, weening yourself off Morphine and Oxycodone pills...kinda sucks
OpenDot
1st followup appt completed. Doc is very happy with my progress. Took the stitches out, said i can throw away the stalkings!!! YAY ME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Down to one crutch that I only use 1/2 the time. Flex is better today. I can walk around the house with no help or crutches with my brace on. Time to get out the timer and dryfire some. When this whole ordeal is done I want to make A in Open within 3 months of first shot fired when I return. That's my Goal. AzYooper
I hope you do make it to the Northern AZ Classic. Even if you can't run it would still be good practice. I have suggested before that you should come out to one of the Steel Challenge matches with us and try it out. You might want think about it in the near future because only one stage has movement. It sounds like you are definitely making the most of your situation and not getting down because of it. I think that Open A is a fine goal. Joe D. OpenDot
Randy's road to recovery - 3 week knee report: Hi Doc can I shoot a match next weekend in Prescott? A: NO!! if you do you will ruin everything I did inside your knee. No lifting, jogging, running, twisting, turning...no agility movement at all until July 31st at best..Aug 31st is the norm before you can ever think about doing that stuff. Just because you have all of your range of motion back the first 12 weeks are crucial with Cadaver/Allograft and major reconstruction. You just had major surgery and we did everything short of total replacement. You have 2 screws in your knee now as well, the bones must heal as well as all the tendons and ligaments. If you do start doing agility movement (run and gun) everything will tear apart and we'll have to do it again...so in short like I said...NO!!! So...no Northern AZ Classic for me. Next match he said i'll be 100% to shoot will be in Sept 2012 High Desert Classic at Albuquerque will be my return. I can go to the range now and shoot, just no running of any kind until post 3 months!! FML!!!!!!! back to dryfiring
Chris iliff
You do what he says. I know you are Jonesin' to run and gun. Don't do it. Do what he says. Heal proper and complete!! Build elaborate stages in your head and blast away on those. Use this time to build a mental game that is unmatched by other shooters!! You can shoot stages in your head all day!! Hey, I know it's not the same, but if your visualization is as realistic as you can make it, you'll be ahead of the curve when the Doc clears you!! You might be surprised at how far this can take your game.

Burkett hooked me up with every DVD he's ever done, Other than the 3 gun stuff and the shotgun/AR15 DVD's there's usually 1-2 spinning a day. Home training is all can do... I'm MR. IMPATIENT...but now I am learning that is what is going to have to be in my catalog for the next 12-18 weeks even if I like it or not!! LOL Thanks for the kind words my friend, much appreciated!! OpenDot
Good luck! I've read through your post and hope for you to heal up all the way! Keep us updated! Stay positive and listen to the doctors..they care about self-preservation and sadly we just care about what makes us happy. Stay focused! Thank you very much!!!!! Week 6 Doc followup: 99% range of motion back still no run and gun...LOL damn him!!! Doc told me today to fight the urge to start competing again. weeks 12-18 are the most importaant for several reasons. ACL screws have to mend to my bones and I can still get an infection The cadaver parts have not implemented into my own. So....dryfire i Stay. I am doing a steel challenge match that is all stand and shoot thurday so at least I get to shoot 100 rounds.. follow up is 6/8/12. at that point I should be able to start jogging and go from there...
