Pinkerton
Hi, I'm just getting into three gun and was wondeing which Bore guide and Rods are recommended? I was thinking the CJ Weapons because it locks into the locking lugs but I've never used one of these before. I've always used brass cleaning rods but I think a graphite rod would be better for the bore. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Pinkerton OUT! TBF
Not to question Benny's choice, But Sinclair's bore guide is also very nice. Ditto on the one piece rod, stainless is easy to keep clean, but coated is good if you are diligent about NEVER getting grit on it. ( if you roll it across some gravel, it will eventually make your AR a 22.5 caliber ) IMHO leave the pipe cleaners at home with the pipe. Travis F. Pinkerton
Thanks! With the stainless rod is there a problem with "banging" the lands? This was the criticism I got for using the one piece brass rod. Thnaks for the great help, as usual!! Pinkerton OUT!
Tom Freeman
I really like the Bore-tech coated one piece rods. A little nicer then the Dewey rods. The bearings in the bore-tech seem to allow the patches to turn easier than the Dewey. JP Bore guide or a Delrin bore guide. I have the Dewey lug recess cleaning tool and its a nice unit. Nicer than the Sinclair version that my pop has for his bolt guns.
n2299
I use Dewey 1 piece rod and JP Enterprise bore guide. FWIW I have found having a Dewey brass chamber rod(non-rotating) and chamber brush real helpful when cleaning my AR.
