Puma
I am waiting on the arrival of my new 6" STI Eagle in 40 caliber. I would like to know since STI 6" Eagles have a reverse plug so that recoil springs from Government 1911's can be utilized if the same lenghth recoil rods can be interchanged. I cannot find any 6" tungsten guide rod on the market but they are available for Government length 1911's. As always any and all information will be greatly appreciated. Aircooled6racer
Hello: I don't think you will need/want a tungston guide rod on your new 6" Eagle. You may try Clark Custom if you need a 6" tungston guide or maybe Briley? Hope this helps. Thanks, Eric
Joe4d
You'll have to wait and see, My 6 inch eagle has a reverse plug but it uses a longer than standard rod and plug, Your not gonna want the tungston, You're gonna be wanting to make the front end lighter not heavier. CAB33
EGW makes a 6" guide rod, it's not on the website, you have to call them.
Puma
Thanks for all the help. I do not know if I will want a tungsten rod I just wanted the option. I am just getting into reloading so I will start out with factory 180 gr ammo and of course you know the pressure that factory loads produce. Joe4d
American Eagle 165's and WWB 165's recoil alot less and they will make power factor in a 5 inch gun.
Duke Nukem
My 6 inch Eagle uses a barrel bushing and standard plug. Did you get the bull barrel version?
Puma
Yes, bull barrel/reverse plug.
EkuJustice
With that gun, I would avoid the tungsten. It is alaredy going to be nose heavy even more so with the bull barrel. Most 6inch guns have the slide lightening done to help this. I tried it without and the gun was whipping around much more
BlueOvalBruin
If you're still interested in a 6" tungsten rod SVI sells one on their site.
