Dan Sierpina
What is your opinion on whether or not this is useful? any experiences would be appreciated. Thanks, Craig I would say get it, use it, and test against an unlapped upper. Use the same barrel though, to reduce variables. Then report back here. Charles Bond
For those of you who have no idea what this is (and that included me until I used Google), here is the link: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=20220/Product/AR_15_M16_UPPER_RECEIVER_LAPPING_TOOL
Matt Cheely
I use one. Surprising how bad most upper receivers are...
boomfab
It's a good idea on paper. But the face of the receiver is just part of this equation. You've also got possible squareness issues with the barrel nut and barrel extension.
GentlemanJim
This tool does work. Most quality reciecers are pretty good and dont require this operation I use this tool for a different reason I mill a slot in it to allow the dust cover to close Then use it to support the reciever in the vise when I torque barrels The brownells reciever vise comes with a plastic insert that is useless Over the years I have seen many recievers crushed by having no internal support when torque was applied ( or over torqued) to align the gas tube Jim

DanielW
Is this any more efficient than using blue loctite or similar to bed the barrel extension to the inside of the upper?
