Reloader 15 and 75 grain Hornady

I kept hearing about how well this powder worked for some and I thought I'd give it a try. I tested two groups of 23.5 and 24 grains of RL15 at 2.250 OAL and had one group with 24 grains come in at under 1" at 100 yards. Throwing out a called flier the remaining four were under .75". This was with an 18" stainless Noveske. No chrono data yet.

Keep us posted on velocity please.

Most H.P. shooters I know load either Varget or RE-15.

I am a varget guy but I just am not getting the velocity I'd like but accuracy is great.

I am trying TAC now with 75/77's but accuracy is not proving to be very good and my next choice may be RE-15 or AA-2520

26.5 gr and a 60gr vmax is well under an inch just from a bipod in my JP..30 degree chrono data is at home.

I couldnt get the hornady 68 or 75 to group, but Sierra 69 and 77 both work great with RE15 in my CTR02.

Ill keep trying the Hornadys though. Sierra loads were 25 or 25.5 and the 68, the 77 shot best at 24.

Im testing out some TAC tomorrow(later today) hope its less temp sensitive. Seems i was about 1-200 fps off book speed at 30degrees.

Here is some of my Data.

RL 15 is an excellent powder. I use it and Varget. Both very accurate I'm at 26.0 gr of Varget with a 75 gr Hornady bthp and 25.0 gr of RL 15 with the same bullet. Both at 2.250 col with a light crimp from Lee factory crimp die. Both loads shoot great out my 14.5 inch barrel 1/9 twist and my 20 inch 1/7. The 14.5 inch barrel wasn't very accurate and didn't stabilize the 75 gr until I got to the above mentioned charge weights then it straightened out and shot great. Must've been a velocity thing with the short barrel and slow twist rate cause the 20 inch 1/7 barrel shot great from 24 gr to 26.

Gunnery Sgt Boudreaux gave me that load - 75 gr hornady, 24 gr Rl-15, Rem 7 1/2 primers for 1000 yd matches. I shoot prairie dogs from 300 to 800 with it. Muzzle velocity is 2750 out of a a 20" Kreiger 1:7.7 twist.

Its my general load now. Doing another 1500 now.
