AR Gunner
I would appreciate recommendations for making a year-end charitable donation to a charity that supports soldiers (either those currently serving or who previously have served). Thanks in advance, and Happy New Year! Ken
Flexmoney
A Google search gave me this...which rates charities...and has an A-list for Vets & Mil (among other categories). I know nothing of the rating service...so, cross check. http://www.charitywatch.org/toprated.html

DMS42
Speaking as a Vet -- USO is always good.
Sarge
We do USO as well. Care packages are $25 I believe. While wounded warrior and other such charities are top notch I keep coming back to this: EVERY Christmas, even in peace time there are thousands and thousands of military personnel serving around the world away from their loved ones. It does not take a war to make serving our great country a hardship. Next Christmas try this. If you are anywhere near a military base reach out and see if they have a program that lets you adopt a soldier for the holidays. When I was a Drill Sergeant there were always trainees who could not afford to go home. They almost all found a family who would take them home for Christmas dinner and some football. They came back a different kid.
