StealthyBlagga
Simple easy question.....is IMA and IMGA the same set of rules? International Multi Gun Association (IMGA) vs International Multigun Association (IMA)????? or are they two different things? They are the same - I believe the International MultiGun Association was a creation of Dan Furbee, match director of the Superstition Mountain Mystery 3-Gun. These rules were in turn derived from the old SOF match. The nearest you will find to a definitive rules set is the current IMA SMM3G rules. However, you may encounter minor variation from match to match.
GorillaTactical
Figured that was the case. I knew IMA rules were currently those used at Superstition and the evolved SOF rules, just wasn't sure if IMGA was something separate. Thanks for clarifying! lmccrock
Just remember if you bookmarked or saved last year's SMM3G rules, that they change for 2011. For example, a non-magnified optic/electronic site is now ok for a Tactical Limited rifle. So if someone says, "We are using IMGA rules from SMM3G", ask "What year?". kurtm
Just for history sake, Dan didn't "invent" IMGA he bought the rights to IMGA form a guy in California who ran it as a loose association and news letter.

Bryan 45
Rocky Mountain 3 gun match uses the best set of rules i have seen in 3 gunning. As long as you don't monopod with cinched mags It is funny how we tend to develope a favorite system. I personally prefer Horner scoring to IMGA scoring. But I'll play with any rule set- even USPSA!
