Midas
Hi Again, I am in need of knowledge what to use for a OAL for Montana Gold FMJ 230. I am going to shoot out of M&P 45. Thanks, Jan
KentG
1.248-1.250" has worked like a champ for me for years.
DougCarden
Quick and dirty is: Put a factory round that you know fits in your magazine, and feeds like a champ and set your OAL on your seating stem. Then put the MG bullet in and measure it. Then you will know for that particular bullet style. I usually run RN bullet at 1.220-1.240, depending on the bullet's ogive. Good luck, and go slow. Bouttime
I set Round Nose, and hollow point, LSWC at 1.245>1.250. I shoot a 1911 this works for me.
BMartens
I've been using 1.242" for years and it works with every 1911 I've ever shot.
High Lord Gomer
My M&P45 never had a problem with MG 230 loaded at 1.250. (Probably only did a couple thousand through it, though)
bcbulldog78
I like to load long as possible but in my 1911s I load out to 1.275. I have not had any issues with jams at all at this length. Something like an M&P probably will not function at that length. It really is about two things 1) Safety and 2) what works for your particular gun. Emerson
I load 1.250 - 1.260. I've never had a problem with loads in that range.
