Store Clerks on the phone

I HATE standing in a store only to have the store clerk on the phone helping someone. I'm not talking about personal calls...that's a whole other issue, but helping someone that just called in, instead of me, standing in front of them. Put the caller on hold and help the person that got off their ass and actually chose to come into your store!! Ther person on the phone can wait.

What you'll really hate is that company's train this behavior . They logic is that you are already there,less likely to leave, and they are trying to get the phone call in the door.

My last company had this bass ackwards mentality. I got yelled at several times for helping the guy that was looking at me, instead of answering the ringing phone. I figured, there were 3 others answering phone calls, no need to have 12 guys standing at the counter waiting to get helped.

Amen. I have walked out of stores after making sure the idiot on the phone hear me tell him the customer in front of him is the one that counts. I have money on me. The phone doesnt.
