ringram
Total freak out in the UK over 2 SPENT cartridges! Very pathetic and sad. --- Gun cartridges alert at airport A security operation has been launched after spent shotgun cartridges were found at Glasgow Airport. Security officers asked passengers in the waiting area to return through security gates. A Strathclyde Police spokeswoman said the alert was still in place but that flights were departing and landing. It is thought the two cartridges, found in a waste paper bin, belonged to a shooting party which had passed through the airport earlier. One flight to London Heathrow was delayed by an hour. The airport duty manager declined to comment but confirmed that an area had been screened.
ErikW
Probably those evil plastic hulls, which were designed to avoid airport metal detectors.
Duane Thomas
And they don't show up on X-ray machines, either!
Merlin Orr
Were they the "inherently evil" ones I hear about on the news?
Sam
Shotgun hulls. Hmmmm.....Not surprising. Everyone knows that a fine double-barrelled Purdy, smuggled discreetly under one's bowler, is the hi-jacker's weapon of choice.
Merlin Orr
Yup, Sam. Right up there with shoe bombs....
Intel6
When I was stationed in Berlin, Germany my girlfriend at the time (now my wife) came to visit. We had done some shooting while she was there and she ended up with a few fired cases in her purse (I think?). While heading back to the US she went through Amsterdam and they found the fired cases. They gave her a big hassle over them. She was still a novice at shooting and guns but she was smart enough to know that it was a harmless object and to stand up to them and their ignorance. They finally calmed down and let her continue. This was back in the early 90's. Neal in AZ
spook
Intel6, that does sound like Amsterdam. She could have carried a pound of pot and no one would have said a thing though
