jimstc
Just got my Dillon 650 caliber conversion for 40 S&W . I am reloading for a STI Edge. Messed around with the recipe and wondered how long I can go with the OAL. I see lengths as long as 1.215 on the Maass web site. Can you go longer? ErikW
Depends on how much freebore or lead the barrel has. Is it a factory STI Edge?
warpspeed
I found that my STI Edge liked loads a little shorter, 1.170 or so.
BigDave
I think you might be able to go out to 1.250 Jim.

jimstc
Loaded 3 OAL's : 1.205, 1.189 and 1.170. Went to the range today to chrono the loads and to determine the effect on feeding/cycling. There were 2 failures to feed at the 1.205 OAL and 8 failures to feed at the 1.170 OAL. The 1.189 was fine. Go figure as I thought the longer loads would be problematic. The 1.189 was loaded with 4.6 grn of Titegroup and was very accurate from a rest and rated a 169.79 power factor. Thanks to Big Dave for the recipe.
Rufus The Bum
I've loaded at 1.190 for years and have never had any problems. Stick with what works.
mike4045
I load all loads for my Edge to 1.180 oal. No problems so far. The main thing to check for is freebore space. Mike
BigDave
After loading about 800 on Friday, I put some on the calipers and my seating depth has migrated from 1.187 to 1.190". Jim - damn happy that the load will work for you, once less thing to worry about!!!
