Clarification On Production Holsters

John has stated to me that the BOD has not finsihed the rules for 2004 yet. But he said that the BOD is going to follow pretty much the same rules as IDPA regarding holsters. Meaning that the holster can be cut 1/4" below the ejection port is acceptable. So the Kytac-1 is no good and the Sooper Hooper is good. I though I would just pass this info along to my fellow Production shooters.

I looked on the USPSA web site and couldn't find anything on an "approved list" of holsters.

Has anyone heard anymore on this issue? I recently bought a Ky Tac holster to shoot Production with and I'd like to keep using it, although my $20 Uncle Mikes kydex is still a good holster.

Thanks for any input you have.

This holster issue is much like the old saying about pornography, I can't describe it, but I know it when I see it.

There is no approved holster list. I think most of the BOD were just praying on common sense prevailing. If you are using a LimCat or Ghost holster as your Production Division rig, you probably have a problem. I think, my opinion, if it is a BladeTec it is probably OK regardless of the cut.

Unfortunately this is going to be a case by case issue. But if you are meeting the spirit of the rule, I don't think you will have a problem.

If in doubt, take a picture, and e-mail it to NROI and have them look at it.

If it doesn't look like a race duck, walk like a race duck, quack like a race duck, it is probably a Production duck :D

Your mileage may vary.
