  1. EZ Bagger.....Is that concrete abutment under the highway at PASA park's entrance? Just wondering. I can't remember it exactly but your shot sure looks familiar! I'm 56, only hadda wear readers 4 years now, I was really lucky. I had lasik just about the same time, as my eyesight was terrible from 2nd grade on. My readers didn't change but my distance vision is now 20/15 or so. I'm still shooting Limited, tho I haven't shot a lot the last three years or so. I put a red fiber optic front sight on and I can ALWAYS find it even if I can't be reaalllll precise, say from the 50. Most matches aren't designed like that anymore anyway, and I can see the front sight well enough to get by. Something else I tried.....I wear 1.75x reading glasses ($5.00, Walgreens on sale!) so I bought a couple extra pair in 1.25x and 1.0x. I haven't bought any shooting glasses with that built into the lenses but I think it'd work very well. I can see downrange PRETTY good, and I can see the sights PRETTY good, no worries running or anything else other than not being able to see if ol' Mike has visited my 20 yd target! I wear Gargoyle sunglasses as my shooters and they're just about big enough to wear OVER the 1.0x readers. If I wasn't so damn big it'd work fine! Anyway, you might try that trick if you'd like to stay with Limited. On the other hand....shoot both! ST

    Back pain!

Sounds terrible, I feel for ya. Makes my rotator cuff worries pale to insignificance. I can still function and I don't have anywhere NEAR that kinda pain. Brrr.
  3. Like they used to say on "Hee-Haw"......only with the utmost sincerity...... Saaaalute!!

    Florida Open

Howdy again, boys and girls. My buddy's wife is doing all the trip planning, so I'm not sure where we're staying....I'm just along for the ride! After the match we're gonna spend another week or so down there. Ed's folks stay in Clewiston in the winter so we'll be goin' down there for a day or two. I really haven't a clue where else.....I find it easier to get along if I just do what I'm told! I believe we're shooting Sat PM/Sun AM as well. I'll prolly be wearing my old tie-dyed SA shirt from the Master's so long ago you'd have to get there in Mr Wizard's "Way-Back" machine! If you think you see me, tell me about it! Chris, I'll be sure to look you up at your booth. Stipo

    Florida Open

I haven't shot too much the last few years, and I'm trying to work up enthusiasm for shooting again. My best bud and I have decided to make a vacation with our wives around the Fla Open. Just wondered who I might expect to see when we get there.....aside from the super-squad-types! Stipo
  6. If you're worried about heating too much area, or if you don't have a soldering iron, you can heat the screwdriver tip itself with a cig lighter or whatever. It will sometimes be enough heat to loosen the loctite. Can be reheated as many times as necessary.
  7. Sorry. I forgot my OTHER thought on the last post. I had an large extended release for a while, but had trouble with dropping the mag when starting with "gun lying on the table". I can't fully remember now if that trouble was real or imagined, but either one can cloud your thoughts when the buzzer goes off! Stipo
  8. Hi, Stipo here. I lurk and don't talk much. I have gorilla-sized hands, but I still grip-shift on my STIs. With my particular grip I can't reach the release with my thumb WITHOUT shifting. I'll admit to never trying the middle finger trick. I've done the other way too long to change! In comparing grip shift to the left hand technique.....Seems to me that if you wanted the utmost in efficiency your left hand should be moving to the belt (for the new mag pick-up) as soon as possible. If you delay the left hand to hit the release you're wasting time (maybe not measured in seconds, but in this sport time is your enemy) that would be better spent reaching for the mag. When I grip-shift, I have re-aquired the CORRECT grip b4 the new mag is ready to insert. My .02. OR .01
  9. I understand there were a very few of the first 7 shooters in .38 Super.
  10. Hi, guys and gals. I don't post often, mostly just a lurker. I'm not as active in IPSC as I once was but I still shoot the Master's. I'd like to buy either a 686 7shooter in 38 super or one of the 627-4 8 shooters. If you know where one might be for sale I'd sure appreciate a heads up! I'm coach@newwavecomm.net Thanks for all.....Stipo
  11. Hi. I dont know if I can tell you anything differently than the other guys who've posted on this question, but that won't stop me from trying!! I own a 550, 650, and 1050. No question the 1050 is the Cadillac, but it's MOSTLY a one-trick-pony. Yes you can change calibers but it's expensive and it takes a little time for set up. My best friend did it for years. It worked for Ed 'cause he would load up thousands of rounds in one caliber b4 changing over. I started on the 550, lo these many years ago. If you have good hand/eye coordination (and plenty primer tubes!) you can load 600 rds/hr. You'll work up a sweat but it can be done easily enough. 550 is mechanically foolproof. Yes, you must index. I still load 7BR for the Master's, 7-08, .44 Mag, and .45 ACP. No worries, rapid caliber changes even if you have to change primer size. 650. Mine is set up for .40 and I've never changed. Change looks pretty simple, certainly not in the 1050 arena of difficulty. At the risk of getting flamed up <please, NO> I'll have to say the 650 has some quirks. It is not the cast-iron piece the 1050 is, but it is quite a bit faster loading than the 550. I like it very much, I just have to reallign my head when I load .40. It's not worse, it's just....different! For me <a noted tightwad!> there's only one choice to make if you are not gonna load more than a couple thousand rds a month...unless money is no problem and your time is at a real premium. You can load your rds, change caliber rapidly, and save a few bucks with the 550, load any caliber you like (short of .50 BMG) as well. MY .02 Stipo
  12. I used to shoot PPC in the days before IPSC stuff. Matter of fact I saw one of the early matches in Columbia MO as I was a college kid then and knew someone who knew someone. But that's another story! At one of the PPC matches in St Louis, my friend forgot his PPC revolver so he shot the 72 round course with full house .44 Mags. I had enough sense to shoot down the line from him that day! He had people dancin' the "WTF jig" that day! At the first Master's there was a guy shooting a laser sight before any of the modern stuff. He was wearing special goggles to be able to see the laser dot, he wore a big power pack on his belt with a cable going to the laser projector on his gun. Oddly, I don't remember if it was revolver or semi now. CRS strikes again! Stipo
  13. Howdy boys! Ed Bowling, Vance Schmid, and I will be there. I've suddenly been employed by my cousin the FFL holder! Used to be that Law Enforcement was welcome too, without a ticket, but that was a while back. Guy Neill, I hope to run into you. I have lost track of your email over the years. (Or maybe YOU lost track on purpose!!). We'll be all googledy-eyed walking around. Should be easy recognized! Steve Taylor

    Ebay

I've bought and sold a bit on ebay, mostly to good results, but ONCE....... I was buying a laptop computer for my son to take to college. Everything about this particular Dell laptop looked right, not too cheap etc, but the guy's English didn't match where he was supposed to be, can't explain exactly other than to say he "had an accent in print" that I wasn't comfortable with. I looked at his feedback (100% pos) and emailed the latest 10 feedbacks with the same message. "Your feedback says you.....and sent your $ to this address. Is this all true?" One guy said "I have been doing bidness with this guy for years and know him personally. He used to be in the Mounted Police. I know he is still there and his first language is English!" I got an email from the Mountie.......his entire ebay persona had been usurped, feedback and all, by a guy in Milan Italy! He thanked me, the disaster was averted! You just can't be too careful! 15. Hi all. I'm Steve Taylor, long time shooter who has been away. I mostly read, rarely post, so unless you're an old-timer you won't know me! I'd like to know if anyone has any experience with the Steyr M-A1 ? Interesting looking pistol to me, not too high price. How would this piece fit the Production game? My thanks, ST
