  1. +1 on the "Weigand as a good guy to deal with". He sent me some scope mounts for the Master's last summer. He was very nice to speak to on the phone. Stipo
  2. Howdy. I have an 8-shooter in Super. I'm getting it ready to shoot the Revolver Action Event at the Master's this summer. Minor loads of around 130 PF I just wonder what size reamers you Super guys use for the chambers.....SAAMI spec or are you a little looser? Reason for the question: I got three Super autos that all my loaded (admittedly OLD brass) ammo will drop into and bounce in the chamber, but this dang revo has tighter chambers. Factory new bullets will drop in and bounce, but my reloads won't do it! I hate to have to CasePro every piece that goes through the revo as my reason for going Super rather than Special was the "one caliber reloading" syndrome. You know, gonna simplify my life? I wind up having to shove the rounds down into the chambers with a thumb. I ain't having to speed load, but this is irritating as hell! GRRRRRRRR!! So.....reamer size? Thanks, Stipo
  3. Whoops.....forgot to mention that I wore a cloth brace as well. It wrapped around the upper forearm and fastened with velcro. Stipo
  4. Stipo again. I forgot to mention that I used an elbow brace as well. Mine was cloth that wrapped around the upper forearm and fastened with velcro.
  5. Hi, I feel yer pain! I've been through it in both elbows, always on the outside of the elbow. Went to a friend who is a local orthopedic surgeon (if you follow college bball, it's Tyler Hansbrough's dad...I played against Dad back in the day!) and he recommended the NSAID route coupled with therapy. I took Feldene (best available b4 the new crop like Celebrex and Vioxx) daily for about a month. The therapy was to lay the arm on a chair arm as you sit in it....or lay it on your thigh, seated. If your elbow is too sore to use a dumbell, then he said to start "with a can of beans" or whatever. I was able to do the dumbell. With your lower arm resting flat on your leg, chair, etc, do a series of wrist-only curls with whatever weight is comfortable. I got to where I'd let the weight roll as far down my fingers as possible before beginning the lift. Then rotate your wrist and do the same set of curls reversed. IOW, one set palm up, then palm down. I did both arms 'cause I'm just that way.....worked up to 40 lbs, 3 sets of 16 reps each way. It doesn't necessarily strengthen the tendon that is painful but the others are strengthened so that they "help" the sore one. Inside a month my pain was gone. The other time was not as bad, I used Alleve and excercise and cleared it up. If age is a question, I was in my 30s the first time, late 40s the other. Hope this can help you, I know how bad it can be. Incidentally, I originally injured mine with poor backhand form on the racketball court. Stipo again. I forgot to mention that I used an elbow brace as well. Mine was cloth that wrapped around the upper forearm and fastened with velcro.
  6. In my experience, especially with rifle-size charge weights...unless you're loading for extreme BR accuracy at extreme distances, 1/10 gr or two either side of you desired charge weight will make no perceptible change in impact point. I will admit to only having loaded extensively for 7BR and 7-08 at ranges up to 200 meters. I actually dropped from 32gr AA2015BR to 29gr with only an ELEMENTAL change in impact at 200M. My semi-experienced POV!! Stipo
  7. I didn't read ALL the posts on this subject, so if someone else has already covered this, my apologies. I have thinned AND bent......but I also back the screw off when I want to. I just use some medium locktite on it after I get it set where I want it and have no problems thereafter. With medium strength threadlocker you can move the screw easily enough without heat if you want to. My .02
  8. 20 years ago my runnin' buddy and I cast 10s of 1000s of 38 WC and 45s. Ed used a Lee "Tumble lube" mould that was also no-size. They worked just fine.....come to think of it, MOST all those bullets were straight wheel weight as well. Lee was really easy to work with back then. We had them build us a bunch of four-cavity 155gr .45 moulds. They were just great!
  9. Thanks to all for the help. Now all I gotta do is get the durn thing back from Messrs Smith and Wesson! Stipo
  10. As to why people want them I can only suppose for anyone else..... But for me it was a reloading thing. I shoot the Master's and use 38Super in the Action Event. Also use it for Open IPSC. I am no longer set up for .38 Special (like I was back in the old days of PPC being the only game around!). I could still use the old RCBS Green Machine but it still suffers the same shortcomings as in years past.... My time in the summer is at a premium....I farm!...so any shortcut I can take helps me, thus the thought that a Super Revo would be just the ticket. The fact that I only paid $900 and got lotsa extras is beside the point. Stipo
  11. Tom, is that price for Hearthcos or another brand? And thanks for the head-up! Stipo Now, anyone got any advice for a crappy headcold!?
  12. Moon clips for the 627-4 (38 Super) seem hard to find (other than the Hearthcos). Where else are these available....OK, Smith. Are theirs any good? I got the revolver but I only got 14 moonies with it, and know not much else! Thanks, Stipo
  13. My .02 My eyes are like your darlin's! This is an STI, not a revolver, but I think it's still pertinent. Now I can see the front sight, but for any hope of precision I'm gonna have to do something to the rear as well. Right now the notch is so indistinct that the front sight just gravitates to the TOP of the rear sight and I'm having real trouble adjusting to that. I think that a FO rear, or something like the Tactical Advantage system (unavailable for MY application, but available for YOURS) looks really good, especially in light of how I'm seeing my sights at the moment. Hope this doesn't muddy the water too much! Stipo
  14. My runnin' buddy has drawn a bead on the 627! I bought one from Brian's classifieds back in the summer. Just happened on the ad about 6 minutes after it was posted. I pm'ed, phoned, sent a smoke signal.....! It was a good deal, and came with a buncha stuff he didn't even list!
