  1. I have always had good luck with the H&G #68 style SWC feeding. I've had problems with other's in the past. Judging by the picture, the Precision looks like it should feed fine for me. I love there 230 gr. RNF, but I was wanting to try the little snappier recoil of a 200 grainer. I needed some fast, so I just ordered some Laser Cast to try. Precision is pretty backed up. Perhaps I'll try there 200 gr. RNF next. Thanks
  2. Here's a 25 yd. group I shot yesterday with Precision's 230 gr. RNFP using 231. I blame the (2) fliers on the operator
  3. Like I said...."There pretty accurate though". Here's one of the 6-shot groups at 15yds. offhand. I blame the flier on the operator
  4. Had about 3 FTF with this load out of about 70 rounds fired. This is much better then the Springer, but still unacceptable. Pretty accurate though. 6-shot groups coming in about 1.5" @ 15 offhand I just ordered some Oregon Trail 200 gr. SWC's. The H&G #68 style SWC's feed fine. I will not be using these 200 grainers from Speer again. Thanks for the help, and info.
  5. RN, or SWC? Which is your preference and why? I'm guessing the SWC's cut the target better, but the RN is smoother feeding. Thanks
  6. Ok I'm back. Thanks for the most recent reply's. I have just traded off the Springfield for a Para PX745J These bullets seem to feed fine with Para's ramped barrel. Pic inserted for your viewing pleasure.......... Back with range report later
  7. +2 on the 231. I use it for 9, 40 & 45. I agree it is not the cleanest. I have been told it is tempature sensitive too. I also hear VV320 is cleaner and a great performer. But, this also comes at a higher cost. FWIW, with jacketed bullets (40major) I use Titegroup with very good results. But for lead, moly, and plated I prefer 231 Good luck
  8. I have more then satisfied with Precision's bullets. I'm sure you will be too. I beleive he is so busy that he has discontinued some styles and weights (for now). I beleive his web site mentions something about this. Good luck
  9. Sorry. Not a very good one. Bad lighting
  10. Ok, well I picked one up at a gun show today. I love the appearance, and feel of these things. I'll give a Minny review later if anyone would be interested.
  11. Alan, Thanks for the information. I am actually going back to ID for a week and will be able to get a couple of matches in there. I am back on the 23rd and if I am still in town on the fourth, I will definately make it over. I could use at least one more good match to get ready for A2! Thanks again for the info. TG If your looking for 1 more good match before Area2 Fredericksburg would be it It's a hot match! Gotta be quick to sign up, as they can only take the 1st 100 shooters An IDPA match that I think nearly rivals Fredericksburg's USPSA is Black Creeks in Hanover Va (just outside Richmond). It's usually 12 stages with 120 rds. or so. This would be Jim Taylor's/Anton Kothe's match that Mr. Meek spoke of. It is the second Sat. of the month (weekend after Fred.) Hope to see you at the matches
  12. Nice site, had not seen that before... So with FMJ, that easily makes minor, (124 * 1060) /1000 = 131.4 Have you chrono'd your 4.25 gr load? (My scale does not go that fine... ) -H Have not crono'd yet. Plated bullets will yield a higher vel. then jacketed, and of course lead even higher. I say 4.25 due to minor fluctuations. Most loads checked are a little over 4.2 gr.
  13. Here'ya go. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but there really shouldn't be enough difference between the two to matter. http://www.handloads.org/loaddata/default....urce=Winchester FWIW, I'm using 4.25grs. with 124gr. Berry's plated. Very soft shooting
  14. Moderator Didn't know where to post this question. Now that I look, maybe I should have posted it under Guns and Reloading Questions? Thanks, and sorry
  15. Thanks to all I think I needed just a little more crimp. Just a little more crimp has smoothed out the case mouth. I was at .472" or so. Now at .469/.470" When I now drop the slide manually they seem to chamber real smooth. No hangups. I'm getting ready to try some in a bit. Back later with follow up............
  16. Local shop has one. I handled it a few weeks ago, and it looked and felt great. Very tight yet smooth. Just felt GOOD! Now, I currently shoot a Springfield that's a tack driver. No reason for me to get another SS, but........ I can't get that TJ model off my mind. Any experience with the USPSA TJ model S/S? I've read about some extractor issues. Any opinions? Thanks guys....and or gals
  17. Thanks. Your probably right. The lands are nice, and smooth, but the rifling is very rough appearing.
  18. Now that's an idea Thanks Dummy me. I just realized, these are .356"
  19. Hey BK. The Precision's are moly coated. I may try some jacked. Just trying to keep cost down
  20. I can load the H&G68 style 200gr SWC out to 1.230" (maybe a little longer, don't remember) . This bullet from Speer is different though. It has a much shorter nose. I can't load them any longer then 1.190" or they contact the lands (rifling) in this barrel. Other 200gr SWC's with a longer OAL have fed fine though. Thanks
  21. Ok, same problem with all mags. Different springs didn't help either. Guess it's just a combination of bullet design, OAL, feed ramp, feeding angle, etc. Not going to send it off to a smith just to feed this bullet. They sure are accurate though
  22. Thanks. I had some minor keyholing issues with the 147's at 15 also. Another reason I went to a different bullet weight, and design. You are right about some guns/barrels just not liking certin bullets! Thanks
