  1. Range results = GOOD 100% reliable, accurate, mild recoil = I was able to shoot a couple of 5 shot 3-1/2" (approx.) groups standing at 25 yds. shooting just as fast as I could get the sights back on target (I'm guessing about 7-8 seconds). This is good enough for me I did not notice a big difference between the 3.4gr, and the 3.6gr loads. Ofcourse we're only talking 2 tenths difference here. I'll be shooting my 1st IDPA match tomorrow a.m. with this gun, and load Wish luck Next on the list; 2.5# trigger package SIGHTS! Thanks for all the input
  2. Got it. Thanks. I installed a ISMI 13 lb'er, and I also got a 15lb to try. I loaded up some 3.4 gr loads this morning, and will be trying them soon....I hope. I'll have to pick me up a spare guide rod, so I too can swap out quickly from minor to major. Good idea Thanks for the help
  3. Same here. Straight behind the finger nail.... number 1 pad..... index finger..... Whatever that's called Straight back. Don't milk it. That can throw your shots to 7 o'clock. Todd Jarett's clip on trigger technic, and control http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4...andgun++lessons
  4. The end just pops off? Seems like a bad disign with that much spring pressure against it. I cut about 5 coils off my striker spring to help with the trigger pull. Seems to be ok. I have a stock replacement if needed. 3.4grs huh? I may have to try that. I bet it shoots like butter Thanks
  5. Ok, I have a 13 & 15 lb spring coming from CGR. This morning I loaded up 250rds of 3.7grs. of TG. We'll see what happens. I'll update later Oh yeah....how do you replace the spring on a captured guide rod ?
  6. I too have a SA 1911 9mm. Anyway, mine came with a 9lb recoil spring (per Springfield), and I replaced the ILS with an Ed Brown "wedge" mainspring/mag well I install a 23# MS, and everything feels, and runs like factory new. trigger pull is about 4.5#'s. I also picked up a 19# (reduced power) mainspring, and with that the trigger pull is about 3.5#'s., but I have not tried it yet (at the range). I kept the 23pounder in there for the match I was getting ready to shoot Will keep you posted........... Hope this helps
  7. Flexmoney,Thanks. I got to try the 4.0gr load yesterday, and while recoil was less then WWB's 180gr load, I would like it a little milder. I will try some at 3.6 & 3.8grs. BTW this is a pretty accurate round averaging about 2.0 - 2.5" at 25yds hand held off a rest, with the best 5 shot group coming in at 1.110"! Thanks again, Bill
  8. Thanks guys. I think I'll do some at 3.8grs., and some at 4.0grs. One of these should cycle reliably. Hopfully the 3.8gr load will. 3.6 would be even better But it probably would'nt work with the stock spring.
  9. Hey guys, Nubee here. Not to reloading though. Just to the .40 S&W. Picked up some Speer 180gr TMJ's on sale at a local shop. I think I will eventually try hornady's 180gr HAP. Using Lee carbide 3-die set on my (don't laugh) Pro 1000. I would like opinions on starting with approx. 4.0grs of TiteGroup, with Fed primers. The reason I'm thinking of this is because I'm running the stock recoil spring right now. I'll be ordering a 15# or maybe 13# replacment soon. Thanks, Bill
