    IDPA Vests?

+1 also on the Woolrich lightweight vest. I like it so much I ordered a black one as well for concealed carry. I think it doesn't look that much like a tactical vest.
  2. No trigger pull limits in IDPA. Just as long as you keep it safe.
  3. I carry a 26, so when I'm traveling to local match that is over the state line where I have to have the 26 unloaded anyway, I will take it out and use it for a reshoot. I gotten near as decent scores as with my 34 or 19. And yeah, I've got a nasty pinched finger near the palm on a reload and it is a bit slower to reload since the mags usually don't drop free but have to be ripped out. It's fun to shoot in a match.
  4. Clairton has practice on Tuesdays. http://members.libcom.com/actionpistol/ Pitcairn Monroeville has practice on Thursdays (except not on 3rd Thurs, instead on Friday that week). http://www.pmsconline.com/facilities/range...ticalpistol.htm You'll meet a lot of the shooters there. Also as mentioned EH this Sunday.
  5. Speed Shooter Specialties has them for $35. http://www.speedshooterspecialties.com/ S&W has for $39.95 You might also try the M&P Forum http://mp-pistol.com/ - but it seems to be down at the moment.
  6. I generally shoot my Glock 34 and this year I will be shooting an M&P full-size 9MM in competition. But I do on reshoots take out either my Glock 19 or Glock 26 which serve as my carry guns. Interesting to compare my scores. Lot of time I score nearly as well with the carry gun. One thing New Year's Resolution I want to make is to use an IWB holster when shooting the 19 or 26 (or M&P compact if I can swing the $$ this year to get).
  7. You can't use extended mags, but you can use hi caps as long as you load just 10 rounds.
  8. Here's what you have to look out for. I've heard competitors have gotten the heat gun out to make sure no daylight shows. Rita F. Can have no offset backpieces and/or belt slots. The holster may not offset away from the belt and/or body. No gap is permitted in the following areas: 1. From the body to the inside of the belt. 2. From the outside of the belt to the inside of the backpiece and/or backside of the holster. 3. From the outside of the backpiece to the inside of the holster. If you look through the belt slot area of the holster with it on the belt/body, you should not be able to see any daylight. If you can see through this belt tunnel area, the holster is not approved. Holster/backpiece must be constructed of “normal thickness” common holster making materials, no filler is allowed to hide an offset. In simple terms, the back of the holster must be held tightly.
  9. Are you talking high cap mags that normally fit in the magwell of your glock? Then yes you can use, just remember to only load to 10. You can load the first mag to 11 so you don't have to use a barney mag or add a bullet to the mag after chambering first round. If you're talking a mag that extends outside the gun you have to remember the gun has to fit in the box. On edit - I wanted to check the rule book - you also have to make sure your basepad doesn't take you over 1 ounce over original mag weight - from rule book: Weighted Magazine: Any magazine that weighs more than one (1) ounce over the weight of a factory standard magazine for the specific pistol in question. Rita
  10. Suggest you post about your magwell in the IDPA forum I suggested. Ted Murphy who's a very knowledgable Safety Officer for IDPA and Match Director hangs out there and I'm sure you'll get an accurate answer unless someone here more knowledgeable about magwells in IDPA answers first. Rita
  11. Good, I just got a new S&W M&P so I hope they will start making sights for those. BTW, should've mentioned trigger jobs are ok as long as no external visible mods. Here's exact quote from rule book: Internal action work may be used to enhance trigger pull as long as safety is maintained (no visible external modifications allowed). A great place to double check on ?'s like this is the IDPA forum. http://p075.ezboard.com/bidpaforum
  12. Without the magwell you're okay for SSP division. With the magwell you have to go to ESP. BTW, you cannot use a weighted magwell, i.e. brass - that's not legal in IDPA according to their rule book I just checked. You can go to the IDPA official site and check the rules there. BTW, how do you like the Dawson FO sights? I'm thinking of getting the adjustables. Just wish they did the Tritium Fiber Optic's like Tru Glo. Rita
  13. James Matches in this area mostly shut down due to winter. http://www.pmsconline.com/facilities/range...tol/pistol0.htm practices USPSA shooting on their indoor range Thursday evenings if you are interested. The range is about 10 minutes down the road from PA Turnpike Monroeville Exit. Check PMSC contact page for Steve Davidson who can give you details. Starting around March/April there are a number of USPSA and IDPA matches in PA and just over the border in WV and OH. You can usually find a match or two every weekend. Rita
