  1. 43X with around 6,000 rounds through it. About 1,000 rounds ago, started to have a significant BTF issue, with a few rounds from every mag coming straight back at me - bouncing off my hat, my eye pro, my face. Tried different mags, different ammo. Had a Glock armorer look at it at a GSSF match; he said he didn’t see any reason I should be having that issue but replaced the extractor to see if that helped. It didn’t. Anybody else having this issue? Were you able to fix it?
  2. Ok, competition newb here, just getting started in steel challenge. I was skeptical of all the grip enhancement products and wild marketing claims. Was shooting last week, hot sweaty day, and having a problem with my support hand fingers sliding off my strong hand. Borrowed a friend’s Progrip. Between the Progrip and my granulate Talon Grips, the combo is seriously magical lol! Ordered some when I got home; just waiting for it to arrive! If you liked it in dryfire, you’re gonna love it in live fire!
  3. @ltrain7281Thank - I appreciate the info! So....do you have a fave?
  4. I was looking at buying a CZ Shadow 2. Loved how it shot but wasn’t sure how I felt about a DA/SA, and manual safety. Maybe down the road I’ll feel more confident switching platforms but for now, striker fired, no external safety is where I’m at. So I’ve been lusting after the Q5 steel frame but haven’t had the opportunity to shoot one. Everything else I shoot is poly frame, striker fired semi-autos of various makes and calibers. How does the felt recoil of the SF compare with the felt recoil of, for example, a G34? How does it compare with the Shadow 2?
  5. So so so true! I knew that Blazer 124 wasn’t my fave, but it was what I could find!
  6. @BARRYJ Right? There are a TON of options out there! Was hoping to get a few recommendations to narrow it down as to fit.
  7. Gen 5 G34. The only upgrades I’ve done are Talon grips and Dawson sights. Using for GSSF indoor this winter and entry/low level steel challenge this summer. Assuming for the moment that I’m not changing springs, trigger, or anything else.... What is everybody’s favorite, soft-shooting factory ammo? (Right now I’m shooting Blazer 124 gr. because that’s what I was able to buy, but it’s pretty hot....) THANKS!!!
  8. Also, times 100. Surface prep is key - I wash many hands to get any oil off my hands, and wipe the pistol grip down with alcohol and a soft cloth multiple times to make sure there’s no oil left that will impair the talon from adhering. Apply the grip carefully, and follow the directions to use heat (but not too much) to set.
  9. I prefer the rubber Talon grips on my carry pistols, and the granulate on my competition and home defense guns. The granulate will tear up your clothes if used for daily CCW, but the extra grip is handy for nervous, summertime, or otherwise sweaty hands. Talon recently released a new “PRO” grip which combines the rubber and granulate. I’ve not tried it yet but a buddy of mine (who has tried just about every type of grip solution over a few decades) loves it.
  10. Ammoseek.com crawls the web aggregating ammo availability across the internet. It stays very current - some places show 9mm available and within 15 min it’s gone and the listing disappears from ammoseek. So you probably want to check it several times a day. Hope that helps on the ammo issue!
  11. LOL! Some people might want your dirty gym clothes, but that’s another issue... I have a friend who has a regular range bag that he loves and didn’t want to replace when he wanted to go more grey man. He puts it inside a cheapo gym bag for transportation purposes. So that might be an option if you don’t want to replace your current bag.
  12. Guy, untucked t-shirt, reholstering at a match without pulling his t-shirt out of the way. T-shirt bunched into the holster and trigger guard. RO noticed immediately and grabbed his arm just before he really jammed the gun into his holster, with the shirt tail caught in the trigger guard.
  13. Looking for something that has some stretch/ability to move, mid/lower rise as I am curvy and very short waisted. Decent belt loops for a gun belt. Currently wearing jeans (HOT in the summer) or Duluth Trading Women's’ cargo pants (various styles), which are perfect EXCEPT a little too high rise for me. What are you ladies wearing?
  14. @JWBaldree 5. Road construction signs for a mile saying “left lane ends”. People trying to squish in front of me at the last possible second. Uh, you saw the same signs I did, buddy. Plenty of room for you to merge in behind me instead of trying to wreck into the front end of my vehicle.
  15. Two examples from today: 1. 70 mph speed limit. Truck going 67 mph in the middle lane passing truck going 66.8 mph in the far right lane. Truck pulling a camper in the far left lane not passing anybody. Just hanging out in the far left lane, speed fluctuating between 64 and 74 mph. OMG. Get out of the left lane already! 2. 70 mph speed limit. Far left lane moving fine, just at or slightly above 70 mph. Everybody in the left lane sees a trooper in the median, and everybody slows down to 62 mph. In a 70. Like seriously, do you think you’re earning bonus points or something that you can apply later when the trooper’s buddy clocks you doing 80 in a 70?
  16. Although I do train and shoot a fair amount, I’m definitely NOT a high level shooter (yet, anyway, but working on it LOL), so with that disclaimer...I have Dawson sights on 2 guns - red fiber front and plain/black rear. I have stock CZ white 3 dot sights on a P10C and old/dead Trijicon night sights on an MP (so they basically show as 3 white dots like the CZ). I have Truglo 3 dot night sights on a EDC sig. And I have all black sights on a SIRT trainer G17. For both target focused and front sight focused shots, I pick up the red fiber Dawson sights by FAR faster than any of the others except in very dim/low light conditions. In low light conditions, I pick up the Truglo’s faster. My least favorite are the all black sights. Not saying that others can’t or don’t use a black front sight quickly or effectively. I just personally find it really difficult to find the black front sight quickly. The results might be different for folks with better vision, higher skill level, or those with color blindness, but I’ve got to think there’s a reason that all the folks I’ve seen who aren’t shooting optics use a fiber front.
  17. I’m a fan of Keepers Concealment holsters - the Errand is great for appendix in waistband carry if you don’t always wear a belt. Keeps my P365 very well concealed, and is surprisingly comfortable!
  18. Hi y’all! Thanks for all the suggestions and advice! I’ve ordered a Shooters Connection belt, RHT holster, DAA racer mag pouches. Waiting to hear back from Invictus as to whether their hanger will work with the RHT holster before I order a hanger. I’ll have to keep looking for lower rise pants as that should help with the stiff belt/comfort issue. Everybody please stay safe and healthy!
  19. As far as belt styles go, what is the easiest style to set up and use for both dry fire practice and live fire? Velcro inner/outer belt system like DAA? Safariland ELS or similar? I assume that the belt/system I choose may narrow my choices as to mag pouches, holster, etc ....Do I pick the belt first and gear to that, or do I select holster, hanger, pouches, and pick the belt that fits the gear?
  20. So can I just say that y’all are AWESOME?!?!?! I so greatly appreciate the thoughtful, helpful advice, and that nobody has posted a link to a belt “because it comes in pink” (one piece of advice previously received ) I’m comparatively new to shooting but take it very seriously and want to make my training and gear count. Grateful for your help!
