Ok guys, I have made some changes to my PCC and I love the changes.
Changes
- A5 Buffer Tube (ditched the AR15 Carbine buffer tube)
- Blitz 5020SS (ditched the Blitz 5015HD w/ 2.5oz Weight/Spacer)
- Removed .49" Nylon Spacer
- Re-tuned Load to 129PF
- Stern Defense 9mm NiB BCG (ditched the Taccom ESSB - still a great BCG though)
- JP Tuned & Polished Extra Power Carbine 308/9MM Spring (JP-S-OSC-308)(ditched the Sprinco Orange 308 Spring) (I also tried the Sprinco Red Spring with this setup, it was too light causing unburned powder).
The PCC is recoiling much softer and smoother. At 25 yards I can consistently split .17-.20 in the A-zone. I can also consistently split .14-.16 in the Head A-Zone at 11 yards. Groups are significantly tighter as well. Between 0-10 yards, I can consistently split .12-.15 in the A-zone. I even tested plate racks both inline and horizontal and poppers with no issues.
Overall I am extremely happy with these changes and the way the rifle is running. I ran 500 rounds flawlessly.
I have a LIKE NEW Taccom ESSB for sale if anyone is interested, has roughly 100-200 rounds through it.

No, just 124gr factory ammo.
Keep in mind, even though you are Radial Delayed, you are still a PCC, not a .223/5.56, so pressures will be higher. I would recommend the HD or SD Buffer, probably the HD but a search might yield you better results on this forum.

What hydraulic buffer / spring do you recommend for 13" radial delayed blowback PCC with carbine buffer tube?
On Blitzkrieg product page it says:
This buffer is also an excellent choice for the CMMG radially delayed blowback 9mm guns.

I'm having hard time deciding between PCC HD buffer RB5015HD and carbine buffer RB5000.
Do you reload?

Does anyone know if an AR15 or AR10 buffer tube is best to use?

As I remember the early slug was a little bit oversize... They came out with a second slug that was a bit smaller in diameter and had flat spots on the circumference to let air pass through... Similar to the buffer piston.
The one you described, that is the one I have.

That may be, but at .994" OD I'm surprised it goes into a mil-spec tube. Next time I have it off I'll measure.
Slug could be slightly too large too... but mine fits in 4 different mil-spec tubes I tried.

Mine does not, at least not in the tube supplied with the Zulu 2.0 stock.
your tube is out of spec then, mine fits in every mil-spec tube I have.

BTW, the Blitzkrieg buffer fits in a mil-spec tube. The Short Stroke slug only fits in a commercial tube. I discovered that when I changed stocks and tubes.
My 2.5oz BLitz "slug" fits in my mil-spec tube fine.

Man, i'm doing same test and have an almost same equipment for a year or so.. And was asking the same questions so far
12.5" / ECL / Hydr
First i started with MBX buffer system and their Yellow spring kit
Then it was Sprinco Red with Hydr 5007
Then it was DBRS Taccom
Now it's a A5+5020SS + JP Carbine 308 + my ammo for dunno 130 pf or so
The only item i need is a ESSB but i can't buy it here in Europe
i have switched from green ECL springs to Red for now (it's 3.5lbs?)
dunno what to say..Didn't managed to make a hole2hole or even touching holes from 15y / 0.14 splits .. The best results were at the last week it was a constant 1.5" group splits..but they are not damn touching!rrr
gonna try a bolt weigh out
btw i have found that removing buffer retaining pin was a good addition. Constant pressure indeed makes a gun cleaner
so you removed the buffer retraining pin and spring? You just push the buffer back when connecting your lower and upper? -

The 308 jp carbine is ar10
Yes it would be in the upper/barrel area and could potentially get in the lower/trigger parts.
start with red sprinco. Shooting doubles or bills at 25 yds on a timer, fastest splits you can shoot and see which has fastest splits with best hits.
another good spring is tubs flatwire @bwikel
awesome. I was thinking the same after re-reading your post.
My SprinCo red spring will be here tomorrow. I currently have the JP .308 in it (received today).
I’ll test Friday or Saturday with the exact drills you mentioned above! Thanks again!
I will report back this weekend!

Trial and error is the only way to tune your gun to you. I tried 3 buffers, 4 loads and yellow to orange sprinco, jp 308 carbine and rifle, weights in weights out. The setup I listed about is what I had the best accuracy on doubles and bills at 25 yards it felt the smoothest and had a fast predictable return.
Also proper cheek weld (not chin) having gun near my centerline (buttstock mass below shoulder line)s!houlders squarish, while rolling or pressing my right shoulder into the buttstock and squeezing in with my left hand about mid way on the handguard. That said every gun is going to have a track, memorize the track and practice timing it.
symptom of to light of a spring is a lot of unburnt powder , with direct blowback you want to keep the bolt in a lockup as long as possible just like a mechanical lock on ar15Good to know, thanks. I will keep trying, I have it close to what I want. Im just 100% sure the Sprinco .308 Orange spring is too much as my dot movement is more than with any of the lighter springs I used. What JP Carbine Spring are you using, Ar15 or Ar10?
When you say "unburned powder", would this be in the upper and bcg itself (like caked on)? If so, then the SpringCo Blue spring is too light as I had more than usual in my upper/bcg with that spring for 200 rounds of use. I should try the Springco Red and the JP AR10 Carbine next.
Lastly, what spring would you recommend as a starting point (if you can) with a buffer+bcg combined weight of 20-23oz?
thanks everyone!

Total weight of buffer, steel spacer and bolt is 22.10 oz's.
Thanks, is there a recommended bcg+buffer+space weight range to stay within? I always read 17-22oz but that is a big range.

I will check it out later and let you know.
Thanks again sir!

Yes,
Left the weight in. For me the carbine spring gave me the best results down range.
Not exactly the best dot movement but the best double taps.
What is the approx total weight of you bcg (15oz)+buffer?
Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

I use a stock .223 carbine spring with good results ,
15 oz. bolt, Blitzkreig and steel spacer, Gold 308 trigger.
No problem using it for two seasons of shooting.
Good to know, thanks! You also use the bolt weight or remove it? At 15oz I imagine you leave it in?
Also, why did you pick the 223 carbine spring over a .308 carbine spring?

I agree with Bwillis,
Your current set ups should give you very little dot movement. That leaves one thing, you!
For me I can dramatically change my dot movement by changing how I stand and how I hold my gun
with the same load.
Hand far out on the hand guard, hand close, hard grip, soft grip, stock high on my shoulder, low on
my shoulder, facing the target, angle my body to the target. You get the idea. Try it. Might help you out.
I put up three targets at 15 yds. Double tap them as fast as you want to go. You may find that your dot movement
can fool you as to what is happening downrange on your targets. I like to get at least a 2" double tap.
The .308 spring is definitely causing muzzle dip and battering of the barrel face. With that said will a lighter spring cause issues with reliability and/or safety of the PCC?
I will definitely change my grip/stance with 15-yard targets and see results. But again, will a lighter spring cause issues with reliability and/or safety of the PCC?

Post a picture or video of you shooting. That setup should have very little to no dot movement. I use a 5150 with jp carbine and 2 oz spacer in front of dampener iron city bolt. Total weight is 26-28oz if I remember correctly.
Ill have to get some videos this weekend when I go practice. Recoil impulse is fine, it doesn't bug me. It's dot movement.
I feel the .308 spring causes more dot movement (also has seemed to leave marks/marring on the barrel possibly slamming too hard) than lighter springs. So I tried other springs, I guess it will be a trial/error in which spring I like best. Is there such thing as too light of a spring, like the JP AR15 spring, if so, what would a symptom be if a spring is too light?
With that said will a lighter spring cause issues with reliability and/or safety of the PCC?
Also, I have tried the BCG with and without the center weight, I feel it has less dot movement without the weight; however is it recommended to leave it in for more mass?

Why do folks get hung up on the ejection pattern?
If it ejects reliably and runs with a low recoil impulse...good enough.
Agreed

Hi All,
New here but been shooting USPSA for a year. I'm nothing special, only done local matches (not majors). I have a few questions about PCC tuning/adjustments if anyone with more experience can help me out?
Here is my current PCC and load setup:
- Davidson Defense 9mm Upper
- Brekke 12" Barrel w/ 4" XComp
- Taccom ESSB Bolt (Stern Defense BCG on the way to test)
- Gibbz G9 Lower
- Hiperfire ECL Trigger (red 2lb springs)
- AR15 Carbine Buffer Tube (AR10 Carbine tube ordered to test)
- Blitzkrieg 5015HD w/ .75" (2.5oz) PCC spacer/weight
- Nylon .48" spacer before spring in buffer tube
- Sprinco .308 Orange Spring
- Load: 115gr Plated RN, 3.6gr Sport Pistol, 1.12" COAL (Approx 130PF) (Even tried 140PF loads)
So I have tried a few different springs besides the Sprinco .308 Orange Spring such as:
- JP Tuned/Polished AR15 Carbine Spring (Approx +7)
- Sprinco Red/White Spring (Approx +7-9% Power)
- Sprinco Blue Spring (Approx +15-18% Power)
Finding the difference is difficult, usually a lighter spring such as the Spring Red/White seems to have less dot movement (I dont care about impulse, just dot movement). I currently have two more springs on the way a Sprinco Red (Approx + 25-28% Power) and a JP Tuned/Polished .308/9mm Spring as well as an AR10 Buffer Tube.
Also, I have tried the BCG with and without the center weight, I feel it has less dot movement without the weight; however is it recommended to leave it in for more mass?
My question is two fold really:
- With the info above, what recommends would you suggest to minimize dot movement; Is it more so trial/error?
- Does lighter spring cause issues with reliability and/or safety of the PCC?
Thanks everyone for your time.

I highly considered this optic but FTPs horrible warranty and return policy kept me from taking the plunge. Not at all worth the risk imo. If these every changed and they actually BACKED their "Great Product", I would place an order. @FTP_Shooting_Sports
