  1. Mostly just because I want a normal barrel, but also for holster compatibility with other 2011’s I have.
  2. I have a STI Tactical Host 4” with the extended threaded barrel and wanted to change to a non-threaded extended barrel. Question would be do I just have the current barrel milled back to normal 4” length or get an additional barrel. Are the barrels fitted on these guys or are the drop in? What would be the best/easiest route to go? Thanks
  3. No need to grind the extensions. Take a file to the rear corner of the feed lips and take a couple of swipes. I found out the hard way after being bumped to open at a section match last year. It took 3-4 firm passes with a file to the rear corner to come into compliance. Some folks will grind on the base pad, but that is entirely too much work.
  4. I have a Romeo3 Max and a XL coming tomorrow to check out and see which one I like better.
  5. I was looking more for POI shifts in terms of accuracy. I shoot some matches with 25-30 yard 6" steel, so 2-3 inch POI shifts would make an impact. That is why I asked the question, not that I am trying to drive tacks at 7 yards on an A zone. So was looking for info from more experienced shooters. Thanks
  6. I just received some 124gr JHP and was weighing some of the projectiles to help when go to chrono to figure out PF. Of the 20 or so I measured, they ran from 123.2gr to 124.6 gr, with none of them actually measuring 124 on the nose. Question is, would you batch them in weight ranges and load them batches, or just say the hell with it and mix them all together? Loading match ammo with them, so want to make sure I am consistent as possible for both PF and accuracy. Thanks
  7. She ran great for the first 400 rounds I put through it. Had to change the RTS2 out to a bigger dot as the smaller MOA washed out in the bright sunlight. Working on some more loads for it this week and get some more trigger time before Area 8 in a couple weeks.
  8. So my current PT insert works perfectly with the LSI grip as well.
  9. I picked up a Middy from him this week in 9 major. Great to deal with. Talked to him Tuesday, had pistol on Thursday.
  10. So I got excited last week when I saw that Precision Delta had .356 126gr round nose projectiles in stock. Ordered 2k and they arrived today. Being the new shooter/reloader did not realize that FMJ meant an exposed lead bottom of the bullet. 1. How badly will this lead up my comp? 2. How smoky will this be? Any worse than the blues I already run? 3. Should I just offload them, or will I be OK using for just a couple thousand rounds? Thanks
  11. Their latest list of insert compatibility does not show the Lonestar.
  12. I have a new pistol coming my way in a couple of days that has the Lone Star Innovations Outlaw grip installed. I am currently running a PT Evo grip in a DAA Alpa X holster with the PT insert. Does anyone know what insert I would need for the Alpha X, or should I be good with the PT insert?
  13. So after shooting a match this weekend, I looked at my slide and found a piece of the slide missing behind the firing pin stop. The metal along the missing metal is a bit grainy. Not sure when it happened during the match, but had not issues with cycling. Any thoughts about what to do other than shoot it till it fails and have a new slide cut?
  14. I picked them up as well. Went to practice slide lock reloads in my STI Tactical 9mm and they end up getting stuck and will not drop free, having to really pull on them to release. No issues at all with the pistol in battery.
  15. Newbie question here, but would the competition seating die be the same for 9mm and 38SC? Would be using on a Super 1050.
  16. Was having extraction issues at a match yesterday and pulled aftec at home. Was cracked and holding on by a minute thread between the springs. Looks like metal failure to me. On a 9mm open pistol with about 2k from previous owner and another 1.5k from me. Thoughts? Are these warrantied, and is it transferrable?
  17. Yeah, a bushing barrel. It weighs in at 36oz. Thanks for the confirmations.
  18. I have a STI Tactical Host 2011 in 9mm that I use for Carry Optics. From the breech face it is 4 7/8" to the crown. It barely fits in the box, but I was told it was not legal even though I do not see anything in the rules.
  19. Three mags def will not be enough. A good deal of uspsa stages are at 32rds minimum, and that does not count extras for misses. I see most guys running at least 4, and a lot of times 5 or 6 to change mags at appropriate times on the stage so you do not go to slide lock.
  20. We are pretty receptive here in Richmond/Central VA, and not too far away from you. Lots of matches to choose from: CSA IDPA - every Monday night GRB USPSA at Cavalier Gun Club - 3rd Saturday of the Month IDPA at Cavalier Gun Club - 4th Saturday of the month Steel Match at Black Creek - 2nd Saturday of the month Many others as well.
  21. You don't need to file the extension, you file the rear part of the feed lips at an angle. It took about 5 quick passes with a file and mine were fine in the gauge. You just have to file down the points. Less than 5 minutes worth of work for 10 magazines for me
  22. Got the EVO magwell installed last night. Slipped right on, but the pin was an 1/8" long on either side protruding from the magwell. Simple fix to shorten each side and seems to solve the sticking issue thus far.
  23. I have a PT magwell on the way, so hopefully that will smooth things out. Thanks for the help guys.
  24. Thanks for the help. How much fitting does the limcat require with the EVO?
