  1. I will probably try my 17 again in a match. The more I shoot the Glocks, the better I get with them. However, I can pick up my M&P that I haven’t touched in weeks and instantly shoot it as well or better than the Glocks that I had been practicing with.

    Shadow 2 accuracy

One of the RO’s at my range runs a Marksmanship match that is essentially GSSF Indoor rules except you can shoot any pistol. You have 15 seconds to put 10 rounds on target at 5, 7, 10, 15 and 25 yards. Like GSSF, a perfect score is 500. He told me that one of the guys who shot the match shot a 385 with his Walther and five minutes later shot a 480 with his Shadow 2. That’s a pretty big jump. Essentially, a very low score with his Walther and a competitive score with the CZ. What about the pistol could make that much of a difference?
  3. The ETS mags had a few jams. Not terrible, but not something I would use in a match. They’re basically $14 range toys. I’m much more consistent with the M&P 3.6, so I’ll stick with Limited Minor for now. Once I get a competition belt and pouches, I’ll give Production a try.
  4. Will try out some new mags for the Glock 22 this morning. They are the ETS 19 round 140mm magazines. I loaded them up and they drop free when full. Planning to go to the range today and see if they run without issue. I’ll also shoot my M&P 3.6.
  5. Just looked at the Production list and the M2.0 3.6” is not on the list. Of course, it doesn’t matter for a local match as no one is checking anything. In my first match, I shot Limited Major with my G22 and another newbie shot in Limited Major with his CZ 9mm as he didn’t know he needed to register for Limited Minor. He finished ahead of me. The next week he told me that he should have finished behind me because if he had been scored for Minor, I would have been ahead of him in the standings.
  6. Currenty set up to run my 3.6 in Limited Minor in the next match
  7. Just trying to decide whether to run my M&P 9mm in Limited Minor or Production. Or, to run my G22 in my Limited Major. In reality, it doesn’t really matter as long as I shoot.
  8. Gotcha. I expected this kind of response. Not surprised.
  9. Yep, I’ve asked on multiple threads, and knew I’d get called on it... But there is no one in my circle of friends, or my family, or my co-workers to talk to about competitive shooting. So, I go on and on here. Glocktalk isn’t a competitive shooting forum and this one is, so I ask and ask. As a newb, I ask the same thing, in multiple threads looking for multiple answers.
  10. Yep, I’ve had multiple threads. But, I don’t have anyone else to talk to. Lots of questions.. So, expect some overkill.
  11. Yeah, I think I could get a gunsmith to install an Apex trigger at 4lbs and still run it in Production at my local match. Is that even legal?
  12. Nope, it’s a 2.0 3.6” model. I like it and shoot it well (for me). I’m pretty sure I shoot it better than my Glock 17, although I know the 17 is a “better” Production pistol.
  13. I tried that last time, but shot so slow that I still ended up next to the bottom overall. Will try to shoot a little faster next time.
  14. Have no plans on winning. If I can move from near the bottom to middle of the road, I’ll be happy. I can spend, but don’t want to spend. Ammo is expensive enough for my tastes. I’m new to shooting, and got into defensive handguns following the Sutherland Springs TX shooting in 2017. The main reason for me to own a pistol is self defense. Competition is one way to train and become a better shooter. So shooting a plastic carry type of pistol in competition is really more in line with my original reasons to own and carry pistols.
  15. Even if I decide later to purchase a Shadow 2 or whatever for Production, I would only be buying the pistol, extra mags and a new holster. No magwells, frame weights, trigger jobs, sight blockers, etc.... Sidebar: can you start at 10+1 in Production?
  16. Just started shooting USPSA, one match in Limited Major and one in Limited Minor. Considering options for a Limited pistol. But I decided to look at things from a different perspective - what is the best division on a budget. Limited means an expensive pistol or building up a cheaper one and running .40 ammo. I don’t reload or ever plan to reload so I would be buying factory ammo. So now I’m thinking Production. There’s not a lot you can do the pistol and 9mm is cheaper than .40 S&W. Your only running 10 rounds so no need for extended base pads and magwells, trigger upgrades etc... I have a Glock 17 and an M&P 2.0, both stock with plenty of magazines. All I really need is to pick which one I want to shoot, upgrade the sights, and get a competition belt, holster, and mag pouches. Am I on the right path? Or flawed logic?
  17. Looked at Red Hill, but didn’t see a Glock holster for frame weights. But, I may not have identified the terminology used.
  18. Won't be reloading and can't see it in my future. Probably just shoot factory 180 grain purchased online by the 1,000.
  19. Here's where I'm leaning right now. Use my current Glock 22. First add-ons will be a SJC Heavy Weight Mag Well and Vogel Dynamics Fiber Optic Sights. I recently purchased a pair of ETS 19 round 140mm mags. If these run fine at the range this weekend and in a match next week, then I won't worry about baseplates for a while. Later add-ons would include a frame weight, heavier guide rod and trigger upgrade, though not necessarily in that order. I will probably get a competition belt, holster and pouches before the second round of add-ons. Currently running a belt holster and clip on two mag pouch. Into the future, I might consider a longer barrel and sight block.
  20. And was it a standard P320 full size?
  21. I might try Production at some point. But only have a two mag pouch and didn't want to deal with extra reloads.
  22. Looked again and I found the 22L in the Classifieds.
  23. Not seeing it, but then again, it was the first time I’ve tried to navigate the classifieds on this forum. Can someone point me toward or provide the link?
  24. I’ll try my G22 again in a local match, but I shoot M&P’s better. Could pick up a trade-in M&P 40 for $250 and build from there. Or start adding on to my G22. Simple, easy and cheaper.
