Several competitive shooters I know shoot the CZ Czechmate in open division with 9mm minor ammo, incl. a 9 lbs recoil spring. The gun works fine. The comp is not really effective due to the minor load and limited gas creation thereof. In addition, if you shoot IPSC or USPSA, you get less points for C's and D's in minor vs. 9mm major, which puts you in a competitive disadvantage.

Received and installed the TTI 3mm base plates on the 170 AGW big stick mags. I tested them in the IPSC mag gauge: all clear and good to go.

There is no "best press. The choice for a reloading press is IMO very personal and dependent on a set of parameters: # of rounds reloaded and shot, space for the press, technical experience, etc. , but more importantly the time you want to spend on the press and your budget. All presses have their advantages and disadvantages, lovers and haters, and presses that run flawlessly, as well as presses that go from one issue to another ... . Try to find someone who has the press(es) you're interested in and go see and feel it. If not possible, check out Youtube: lots of user reviews available. Good luck!

At the end always shooter's preference ... but for me, I really like VV 3N37 for my OD major loads for many years: small powder grains, powerfull and clean combustion. Too date I never had any issues that were powder related!

They gave me an honest reduction on the TTI base pads. I asked them to change the description on their website so other custumers are well informed upon purchase.

IMPORTANT FOR IPSC COMPETITORS OUTSIDE THE U.S.! - Just got new Atlas Gunworks (AGW) big stick mags for my new open race guns; - The shop sells the AGW big stick mags as “170mm” mags; - Since I'm planning to also compete abroad in IPSC Level 3 matches, where equipment checks are common, I preventatively checked the mags in the DAA IPSC Magazine Gauge; - The AGW big stick mag actually fits the USPSA Mag Gauge (=171,25 mm), BUT it does NOT fit the IPSC Magazine Gauge (=170mm); - I tried to grind ~1mm off from 1 original AGW base plate: NOT OK, the plate is too thin; - Got in touch with the shop and they stated AGW sold them the big stick mags as "170mm" mags and they were NOT aware that the mags do not fit the IPSC Mag Gauge. They too checked it and came to the same conclusion. They would get in touch with AGW. - They also tried out other base pads on the AGW big stick mag, i.e. the TTI 3mm base pad, which installed on the AGW big stick mag does fit into the IPSC Mag Gauge. I ordered some to test. - More to come ...

Thanks, overall I'm pleased with the swinger. I also have the Mickey Mouse steel swinger. I'm not so pleased with that one. More to come.

Welcome to Open Division, where you can find the "need for speed", without having to reload too much IMO if you want to compete in Open Division, major ammo and scoring is highly recommended. Otherwise and in general you already have a competitive disadvantage between 2 and 5% in points, just by shooting minor. Shooting minor ammo in a fully fletched open race gun might also negatively influence recoil, increase risk of jams and lets the compensator work less optimal. Open guns, due to their tight tollerances, need more tender, love and care, than for example a CZ Shadow 2 in POD. For me for example, that implies cleaning and lubing them after all trainings and matches to keep them in pristine and optimal condition. I also preventatively replace all springs once a year. 38SC ammo shoots softer than the snappier 9mm major, but is more expensive and more difficult to find. Most open race gun competitors in 38SC and 9mm major reload their own ammo to decrease overall ammo cost and to tune the ammo to their gun and their shooting style. If you shoot in Open Division, especially in major, things do break: slides and frames crack, red dots fail, screws fall out, etc. Depending on the brand and how well you take care of them it might be at 5K, 40K or 75K rounds. One things for sure, sh*t happens Have you considered other race guns than SVI, for example: Bul Armory, MPA, etc? You can almost get 2 of these for the price of 1 SVI. On the back up open race gun: that really depends on your personal level of competitiveness, the location and types of matches you shoot in. Me personally, I have 1 race gun I only use for training, 1 primary and 1 secondary match gun (that also serves as my back up training gun). In this way I never have to skip a training or a match. But again, depends on your personal ambitions.
