Completely agree that this should be included with the holster. I don't want to have to add a piece of molded plastic for expensive holster to work. When I ordered mine they were out of stock and I had to order from a shop in Australia.

I got lucky and mine was in stock and got it in a couple days.  They should realize the flaw and rectify it with subsequent orders...just so glad i don't have to worry if the gun is gonna come out correctly now.

  2. Well just went through a full dry-fire session and i can happily report that i did not have any sticking issues now that the DAA thigh pad was installed...simple snap-on part and the situation is fixed...what a load off my mind now...thanks for all the input from everyone.  If you have an Alpha-X holster and are experiencing the gun sticking when you draw order this now and it will solve the issue, especially if you have a steel gripped gun. They should include this with the holster.

Fair enough, but I spent $825 on the S2 (buying it used) and another $50 from CGW to re-spring it.  For another $130 I can add hammer and disco (if I feel the need).  But it may be good to go with just the stock hammer and disco, that’s why I want to shoot it before deciding.

But consider also that I’ve re-sprung just about every gun that I shoot in USPSA...  My first STI 2011, I replaced all the springs, replaced the beavertail (bc I don’t like the narrow scallop cuts that STI uses on the tang of their beavertail), and had a  gunsmith fit an EGW hammer and sear.  Ditto on all my STI 1911’s that I shoot in SS.  On the two striker fired guns I compete with (G34 and P10C) I also changed out recoil spring, striker spring, striker, trigger shoe, guide rod, and sights.

I think comp shooters are no different than a lot of car people.  We like to tinker.

You got a good deal on it then.  Correct tinkering is a given.

The podcast is Firearms Nation Podcast. Yong Lee was on the 12/21/2018 and 05/28/2018. You should check both of those episodes out. They offer some helpful advice for anyone starting out on or trying to improve their performance with a dot. Also the podcast as a whole has a ton of info from big name shooters.

    Thanks.  Will check it out.

I have one coming that should be at my FFL this week.  My plan right now is to just re-spring  the gun (main, recoil, TRS, ext firing pin and FP spring) then go shoot it a bunch.   Comp hammer and disco from CGW if I feel like it needs it.

Congrats on it...but that got to my initial point that you spend $1200-1300 on a competition gun then have to re-spring, etc.  It should come with the Competition hammer....dont get me wrong i love CZ's.

  6. As for distractions when i step up to the line, i go over my stage plan in my head....I use the molded ear plugs and in taking a class i had an instructor ask me to try double plugging, so on top of the molded plugs i put on earmuffs too....it basically cut out a lot of background noise, but could still hear commands and beep....but it did eliminate some distractions of people talking....it helped me concentrate more and now double plug every stage.

  7. I started shooting USPSA in production and got to learn the sport....I switched to Limited simply because it was more fun to me...i don't really care about competitiveness of the divisions...no matter what i shoot if I am not first i have work to do....and i have plenty of work because i haven't won anything!

I have an Atlas Chaos on order that I cannot wait to get my hands on. 55 days into the 90 day period. Just trying not to think about, but I'm itching to get sone reps in with it.

I have an Atlas Nemesis right now....after this season I may switch to Open and will get a Nemesis...the waiting is the hardest part.

I don’t believe my s2 was that high out of the box. More around the 8lb mark. Still heavy but not ungodly

Thats not bad.  I had an SP-01 that i had Cajunized.  Out of the box it was awful..the DA was crazy heavy.  It is sweet now.

As a new shooter myself, apart from one match in Limited, I'm jumping directly into Open as I know it is where I will eventually wind up. I think stage planning and speed will be my biggest shortcomings for a while relative to other open shooters. I'm game though

What gun will you be rocking in Open?

Thanks for tip. I'm gonna move closer for sure. I'm also going to slow it down to a 2 second par time. Then gradually decrease the par time by one second when I can get consistent hits at each par time.

Thats what i tried to do as well...speed will definitely come...dry firing consistently will help immensely, mixed with live-fire.

I'm having the same issue. I have taken a couple of formal classes. Anything under 1.5 sec and half the time I'm hitting C zone shots at 10 yards. Now... I am not quite sure if it's a bad sight picture or if it's my trigger break is slop.

Why don't you start closer to the targets, like 5 yards, and start increasing the speed, then gradually work your way back to 10-12 yards.  Keep dry firing like crazy...practice will payoff for sure.

I think the it really depends on individual preferences. The only thing it really needs is polishing and that’s not even necessary, or hard to do. If you want a lighter trigger pull you can just cut 2-3 coils and the DA will drop to ~ 8 lbs and still light everything.

Out of the box you would be hard to pressed to find many guns which are similar to the Shadow 2 in terms of being competiton ready. Just my 0.02

I don't disagree with that at all...the gun is awesome out of the box, but just not sure anybody would want a 10-12 DA pull on a competition gun out of the box.

I have gotten to were I like to be the first shooter in a match.  After I get the first stage out of the way I relax much better through out the rest of the match.

Happens to me all the time, so i agree...get the first stage out of the way and then at the end for the rest of the match.
