  1. When I was shooting production during the walk  throughs i would break the stage up into sections....say shoot the first 4 targets then reload...then say the next 3  targets reload and then next 4 targets....while i always would visualize the stage in my head it helped me...i would say to myself 4-3-4...and the other things people have said...know your index points if you need to lean or know where targets become visible so you can quickly see it and get to it.  The ONE decent thing i do in uspsa is usually don't forget get targets. Try to simplify and don't get paralysis by analysis.

  2. I always thought it was kinda ridiculous that you buy a competition gun like the Shadow 2 and still have to put a decent amount of money into it to get it right....i thought the trigger from the factory is pretty heavy...especially the DA.  I put a bunch of Cajun parts in my SP-01 shadow and it made all the difference, like night and day from the original factory version.  Congrats.

I haven't found a better alternative to them in the CZ world so far but I will look. I thought they were standard equipment on the Shadow ,2 models

When i shot production with my SP-01 shadow i had some MecGar mags and never had a problem with them...you should be good to go with them.  I did put Springer Precision base pads on them, just for added weight so they would drop free quicker.  Not a necessity.  Good luck!

Thanks for the tips! Yes, I am also looking to reload my own ammo. I have been doing a lot of research lately and I figured I can reload 1000 rounds of 9mm at an estimated cost of $110 whereas factory ammo costs around $180/1000 rounds.

I have been dry firing a lot lately, experimenting on my grip. I’ve been asking top shooters in my area and their general feedback is I am gripping the gun wrong. (I do a push/pull since my hands get sweaty)

Will test it out on the match and see how I can improve.

    thanks again!

Don't worry about the "savings" you will get from reloading....you will just shoot ALOT more and spend the money on bullets, primer, powder, etc.  More about getting your loads just right.  Enjoy your match...be safe and don't rush!

Here is what DAA had to say about that.

"We have changed the geometry of the PT insert, we initially used the geometry that our other inserts had but found the PT grips would stick in the insert, make the draw not smooth. When the guns would stick customers would force the gun out and in turn break the slide lock. We have changed the location of the pins that hold everything inside the insert, the new location allows more engagement of the slide lock, which makes it much stronger, not allowing it to break as easy."

Make sure you get the new PT block.  Specify that when ordering.

I agree the thigh pad is essential.  I had no draw problems without it, but it sure makes wearing the holster more comfortable.

I ordered another insert for the PT a couple months ago and mine still sticks...was just dry firing an hour ago and almost threw my Nemesis against the wall it was getting so annoying...i believe mine is a new one but not sure....my thigh pad can't come soon enough.

It is a simple fix.  The thigh pad keeps the holster aligned with your body.  Like JJB said, a heavy all steel open gun can cause the holster to angle outward without the thigh pad attachment, which can cause a hiccup with your draw.  I've tested the holster with the thigh pad attachment in dry fire several times and I don't have this issue any longer.  It is a good holster and its real easy to adjust.  The thigh pad is indispensable though.

Thanks, thats good to know...mine just shipped so should have it in a couple days and looking forward to trying it.

  7. yeah...the original poster had sent me a video from DAA that shows the clip and how it works.  i will post the link here.  It seems DAA tries to explain they came up with the part for comfort but i have a feeling the steel grips were causing the holster to angle out a bit causing the gun to stick sometimes when drawing because of the angle. The OP has the thigh pad, and i don't want to speak for him, but said it helped alleviate the problem.

pretty sure the new 2019 rule update says that it is legal to shoot activated targets before they are activated if they are exposed, but I'm not sure about the ruling if the WSB says it must be activated.

I thought the new rule was that you had to activate the targets before you engage them. Sorry 9.9.3 - Must activate targets before last shot
