  1. Waltermitty & Double Action: So, Johnny, your shooting revolver today? Johnny: What, this old thing? Yeah, I've only owned it for a day or two. I'm not looking to do very well. . . . . Later in the day . . . . Johnny: Well boys, it looks like you're both slow and manage to miss that big ole A zone lots. Humble, indeed. I'm thinking of going back to squirt guns and bubble blowers!!! Outstanding match, Mister Brister!!
  2. Waltermitty, Bubber and I haven't coordinated our travel plans yet, but we have been arriving the night before a match so far this season. I would bet that we'd be up for a steak or burger somewhere. That's our last chance to be friendly before Bubber tells us who to hate because he is shooting better than we are.
  3. We call that a hall pass in my house. I'm supposed to bring back a really nice anniversary gift. I wonder what's going to be on the prize table????
  4. Add one more wheelgunner to the list!!! I just got a call tonight, and I'm in. I think the Okies are taking over. Waltermitty is going to get tired of my face before the end of the year.
  5. I've got a pair of the 4 inchers and have been very pleased. I removed the lock plate from both, even though I'm sure it would never have been an issue. That price sounds good to me, and you'll really enjoy the gun. Good luck.
  6. I'll make sure Jan won't kill me, and send my app off tomorrow. Looks like plenty of slots for Saturday left at this point. Looks like a fun match.
  7. As the Area 4 match the previous weekend has now been postponed, I am going to try making Area 3 with Waltermitty. I may be too late to be squadded with the "cool" folks, but I'll be "representin" with my revolver anyway.
  8. Or should I say Old FART Shootout, as Waltermitty won the revo division, with Bubber very close on his heels. Oops! Did I use my outside voice? This was a great match, with seven very interesting and challenging stages. I thought it might have been anybody's ball game, but after looking at the stage results, it turns out I was overly optimistic. My son and I had a fantastic day shooting together with some really nice folks. Congrats to Waltermitty and Bubber, and to the folks in Ft. Smith for a great match.
  9. Square butt Chief's Special and a 4" GP100. Boring, I know. Just don't ask me to "whip it out!" That would make me uncomfortable, as we are rooming together tomorrow!!!
  10. I've got one and it is the only S&W I actually regret buying (well, except for that Sigma I bought 10 years ago). It had the most gritty trigger I've ever had, and was actually slightly out of time. I am now using the hammer from that gun on my main match gun. I don't even use the PC gun as a backup. It is more like a parts gun, and that is simply too much money to spend for a parts gun!!
  11. I Can't see the back of my underwear. H$!! I can't even see my feet. Here in the big city, we wear clean underwear everyday. However, I was under the impression that out in your part of the state, you either go commando, or only wear your underoos with your Sunday-go-to-meetin' clothes.
  12. My "A" gun is the 625JM (Non-PC). If I had it to do over again, I'd go with the stock 5" gun, as I don't plan on shooting IDPA. However, I have really enjoyed the JM, and you wouldn't be undergunned with it. The extra inch in barrel, though, makes a nicer shooter for matches.
  13. We had a great time at the range on Friday. I took some pictures, and as soon as my wife reveals the mysteries of taking digital pictures from the camera to the computer, I'll post some. Thanks for the kind words!!
  14. As Waltermitty and Bubber know, my 11 year old son, Christopher, has been shooting matches with me this spring. As the proud father of an as yet unclassified wheelgunner, I wanted to share this brief story. My kids have always enjoyed going to the range with me, and Christopher has begged me to let him shoot in some matches. Last fall, I got him a Walther P22, Kytac holster and mag carrier, and started some competition instruction with him. He is a very serious boy, and very bright. By late winter, he had me convinced that he was ready for a match. For his first match, he used an XD-9, and did really well. The bug had definitely bitten him! However, he told me, "I want to be a revolver man like you, Dad." How could any self-respecting father turn down such a request? I outfitted him with a wheel gun, holster, and some kydex speedloader holders I made in our living room. Several matches later, he is still enthusiastic, and getting better, if I say so myself. Two weeks ago, at the Tulsa gun show, I found a pre-Model 15 Combat Masterpiece had followed me home. It was in decent shape, but did not have correct grips. I ordered a set of grips that were engraved with Christopher's initials. I wanted to give him the gun as a memento of his first season shooting USPSA and ICORE with me. The grips came in yesterday, and really look sharp on the gun. He actually teared up when I gave it to him (to be kept in my safe when we aren't shooting!). He just couldn't believe he had something so wonderful. Tonight, when I get off work, we are heading to the range with his little brother to try it out. I can't wait to see his face when he touches off the first round out of his very own gun.
  15. Hint: Waltermitty looks like a cross between Charles Nelson Riley, Don Rickles, and Burt Reynolds (when he had hair). I hope I haven't made this too easy. BTW, I am on that list and I thank you.
  16. It would just break my little, pea-pickin' heart for Waltermitty to have to make the trip from Oklahoma all by his lonesome, so I am doing everything I can to get a slot. I went to Party Galaxy over the weekend, but they were all sold out of "Jerry" Halloween masks. I may have to work some magic on the waiting list!
  17. If you are talking about the 625JM, and not the Jerry Miculek 625PC, then go with the 625. The JM model is only slightly more than the stock 625, but the replaceable sight is nice to have. The PC model has the shortened cylinder, and a shorter barrel (because of the set back needed for the cylinder). It won't fit in a CR Speed holster because of the shorter tube. Mine was also the worst gun money I've ever spent. The action was rough, and it is not nearly as accurate as my other two 625s or my Model 22. If you plan to compete with it on occasion, the 625's adjustable sights are a help. The Model 22's fixed sights are a bit harder to pick up fast, and obviously can't be regulated for different loads. I've got both and am happy with both, just for different purposes.
  18. Will there be room in the Pontiac for me, my dog collar, a lamp, and a shooting bag? If so, I'm in!! I think the wife gets to keep the rest of my stuff.
  19. Factory ammo? Sure! NERF products are made in a Factory aren't they? http://www.hasbro.com/pl/page.viewproduct/...erf/default.cfm Ouch. You don't get up from a shot like that. It is absolutely NOT true that you can follow the progress of Bubber's bullets with the naked eye.
  20. Gil -- Are you going to be wearing the shirt that says, "If you can read this, the Beotch fell off?"
  21. My wife says that even though this match is on our 22nd anniversary, she will let me go. I think her anniversary present is to have me out of the house for a bit!!
  22. That was a great match, and well worth the drive from OKC. Thanks to Walter Mitty for allowing me to take up space in his car AND his hotel room. Mike Luttrell really showed what you can do with lots of imagination and a first-rate indoor range. The design was very inventive, although I am still miffed about the swinger with two targets on it! If only Bubber would have stood downrange and held that sucker still for me. . . Ditto on Mike and Stephanie being "good folk." They are both also good folk who can shoot!!
  23. Gil was sporting that same wheelgun at the H&H match last weekend. He was also sporting the "Billy Jean is not my lover" glove look! However, since he told me I didn't want to be on his bad side, I'll refrain from any further style commentary.
  24. Wow. And he seemed so nice, too. Bubber, I didn't know you were a celebrity. I guess this means I should ask for your autograph at the next OKC GC match!!! BTW, you should have seen Bubber throw himself on the ground to shoot prone through a low port on the 6th stage at Old Fort. He looked like my 11 year old playing frisbee football.
  25. That was a fun match, and well worth my drive from SW OKC!! Congrats, Bubber, for a fine match. ETA: I just looked at the results on the USPSA site. Wow, what damage one bad stage can do!! Now I have to go back next year to redeem myself.
