  1. According to rule 1.4.1 all long guns must be cased between stages or carried slug up. Does this mean if we have a "Rugged Gear" 3-wheeled cart the long guns MUST be in a case also, or can they placed in the gun holders with visible chamber flags? Dont want to drag the cart all the way to the match and not be able to use it.
  2. I have been trying to get a list of places to stay, anyone have any suggstions?
  3. Atlanta Conservation Club in Atlanta [eta: just north of Indianapolis], In shoots 3-Gun / Multi-Gun the 4th Sunday of each month (weather permitting). We are liomited to stage design because of bay sizes but what we lack in length we make up for with stage design. You know the old saying "its not the size that counts" The type of shoot varies from month-to-month between 3-Gun and Multi-gun, depends on what the guys design. We have not been able to shoot for the past few months because of Holidays and weather so check the website before coming to the match.
  4. Is this match a 3 day match or do you pick what do you want to shoot on, also where is the nearset hotels, etc. ??
  5. I was on a entry team for 7 years and would suggest a basic AR with Aimpoint or EoTech. The main thing is to keep it simple, you dont want the thing to break while making an entry. Also, it will get banged around while on duty as well as on call-outs. I used a department supplied Bushmaster with an Aimpoint , mounted to the carry handle with the gooseneck mount. This allowed me to use the irons if the dot went dead, I would also recommend putting the Surefire light system on the rifle. Most of your "work" with the rifle will be in low light, be sure to get the model with the pressure swtch for momentary light use. The rifle worked well for me in 3-Gun as well, however, most of the club matches I went to did not have any long range targets. I have retired and now use a custom AR for 3-Gun, which I would NEVER think of using for duty (liablity issues with using "custom" equipment for duty use) Hope this helps, trainn with the rifle and then train a lot more.
  6. I am just getting started in 3-Gun and want to shoot at the Nationals next year. My problem is I dont have anything longer than 100 yards to practice on.. Any suggestions on how to prepare for some 300 yd shots ?
  7. Checked the carrier key and it is nice and snug, guess I am back to square one with this problem. Not sure it is short stroking as the fired case is still held to the bolt face and the next round is trying to feed into the chamber. This results in a really nasty jam, checked the tension on the extractor and it seems to be fine.
  8. I'll check the carrier key, that is the only thing I have not checked. Thanks for all of the advice. Whatever the problem is it caused me to zero 2 stages at the KY multigun State Championship.
  9. I have cleaned everything out of the bolt and the springs look fine. Good tension on both the extractor and ejector, guess I'll try new ejector spring to see if that helps. Gun has had only about 300 rounds shot in it so it should be in good shape, have been using it for monthly matches wityh no problem, until this month.
  10. This is my first year shooting 3-gun and I am having a probolem with my AR and I need some help. The gun has been working great and all of a sudden it will hang the spent shell casing on the brrech face and try to feed another round. I have checked everything I know and can't seem to find the problem. Any suggestions and what the problem might be ?
  11. Great match put on by Wayne and his crew. Great COF's and had great time with Squad 2. Must be that Ky air but anything that could go wrong at a match happened to me. On first stage my backup rifle went belly up (using it because primary went belly up the day before the match), rear sight fell of shotgun, belt fell around my knees on one stage, and had a squib load at the chrono other than that every thing went pretty good. Thanks to Jim St. Charles who let me use his rifle to finish the match. Can't wait until next years match, heck with shooting practice need to work on the legs for all of the hill climbing. Thanks to all of the RO's who helped set-up and run the match GREAT job !!!!!
  12. Does anyone know if any vendors will be at the KY State 3-Gun Championship this weekend? Would be nice to know if I need to bring some extra cash for those items you just have to get.
  13. I have known and shot with Rich over the years at Deer Creek in Marion and at the club in Riley as well as many Nationals. Rich was always a joy to be around and fun to shoot with. Eventhough I have not had the pleasure to shoot with Rich recently I will always have fond memories of the Mudfest Area 5 at Deer Creek and the help he provided. John Alley
  14. Since you are in Indiana I would suggest you call Neil Keller at Kustom Ballistics in Decatur, In. He just built me a single stack .40 Caspian and the gun is a tack driver. Neil has built all of my custom guns over the years and they all function flawlessly. The best part is when the time comes to re-barrel or make major changes tot he gun Neil is close by that you can meet him to discuss the changes you want.
  15. Just got my new .40 SS from Kustom Ballistic today, going to break it in this weekend....can't wait. If it is anything like the previous guns from Neil it will be a tack driver.
  16. Nice to hear from you and really glad that my open gun found a good home. I knew it had the MAster level in it just not in my hands. Looking forward to meeting you in September.
  17. I was lucky enough to get a slot for the 2006 Limited Nationals and paid for it on line but have never received any sort of confirmation packet. Does anyone have any ideas ??
  18. I shot my single stack at a local match yesterday for the first time in 12 years. I started out with my Springfiled 45 in open many years ago and quickly moved on to the hi-caps. I liked the hi-caps in open and limited so much that the trusty single stack went into the safe. About 6 months ago in prep for the single stack division I had a fiber optic front sight installed and once again put the gun back into the safe. After I finished the local match yesterday and wondering why I had just shot the worst match of my life I realized that I had never sighted in the gun with the new fiber optic front sight. Just to let you know how bad a day it was I took 40 shots at a texas star and only knocked three plates off before I ran out of mags. Lesson learned ALWAYS re-establish zero after gun mods !!!!
  19. I recently retired from law enforcement and was presented my Sig P220 that I carried on duty. I was going to use the gun in single stack as well as IDPA but was told since it had the light rail it was not allowed. Not really sure what advantage I would have with the light rail in USPSA or IDPA. So I now have a very nice carry gun that I cant use in competion....just seems odd I can carry it all day but it is illegal to use for fun.
  20. I am a little confused on which rule will apply for the 2006 Single Stack Classic as it pertains to the "box" the gun must fit in. If I look at the 1911 Single Stack Society rules it says that the gun must fit in a box 8.9 x 6 x 1.81 without the mag. One of the threads posted here has a differant size box and the mag. must be inserted in the gun, and I thnik the box is the IPSC size which is smaller than the 1911 society box. Which rule applys for this match ? I have base pads on my mags that most likely will prevent the gun from fitting the IPSC box , but will fit the 1911 Society box with ease.
  21. As of last week no one at Atlanta Conservation Club is aware of the IN section match being held at ACC. If the unoffical dates are June 24 & 25 does anyone know what club will be hosting the match ?????
  22. Atlanta (In) Conservation Club host a 3-gun / mutligun match the 4th Sunday of every month (weather permitting). Our goal is to have 6 stages on 3 bays as a min. We try to run the same stage twice, once with rifle and then again with pistol, also shotgun one run pistol second time. Sometime we will have a stage a being mutigun one time with rifle/ pistol and a second time shotgun/ pistol. So far 4 guys have been able to set the mach up and with help from shooters tear the stages down. Would love to have you come join us each month. Check out calender section at website for more info www.atlantacc.net
  23. I have been away from USPSA for about 7 years because of work (kept membership active) and have a question about slots to the nationals. How does the slot system currently work ? Do local clubs still get slots sent to them based on the number of shooters at monthly matches or has this been discontinued ? I am wanting to shoot the nationals this year but with a 7 year lay off and my classification in limited at "A" class based on 7 years ago I dont think I have much of a chance of winning a slot at an Area match. I also notiched that the waiting list is open on May 1 with some of the Area matches after that date, is it best to get on the waiting list and if by some sort of divine intervention I get a slot at a major match cancel the waiting list. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.
