  1. "eliminate a presumption that the hole was caused by a ricochet or splatter."

I feel thats the key part of 9.5.5

you would have to use the angles,,, If the edge of the steel and the weird/ enlarged etc hole was in a more or less straight line from where the shooter was standing its a hit.. if its off at an angle its not...  Admittedly could leave some grey, but I think ,my reasoning combined with 9.1.6.3 would hold up in arbitration.

Apparently a big enough difference to show with both divisions available CO is the biggest of all divisions and LO is battling it out for 2nd, 3rd with Open and PCC. It may vary by region but that's before LO has even been made permanent.

not getting into that,,  I never saw enough difference, but that has been hashed out ...
Was referng to IVC's comment that LO was to CO as Limited was to production...

  3. 1 hour ago, IVC said:

L/O is to C/O what Limited is to Production (less major). Merging L/O and C/O makes as much sense as merging Production and Limited.

The only question that I could foresee is whether to allow major scoring in L/O, but even that seems highly unlikely given the trends toward the unified service caliber of 9mm for semi-automatics.

What ? not even close,,, 10 (now 15) round mags,,, vs 22 round ? minor only vs major ?   NOTHING like production...
LO and CO have no difference in things that matter

I can tune my SAO only Limited Optic gun much easier than CO gun.  SAO triggers are exceptional.  My magwell with bridged side skate tape locks my grip in tight.

i believe a GM shooting both guns will have a proportionally better time with a proper LO gun.

    SAO is key.

    IMO

which makes the division meaningless... So I switch to a more expensive gun to shoot against other more expensive guns ? I will lose to and beat the exact same people,,, we will all just have a proportionally better time. Gun types will only matter at the top.

It's easy to take this argument to the next level though and say why have any divisions at all. If b-class hit factor is x and you make that with whatever gun you're using you're a b class. Probably going to take an open gun to win a match but, you could win be class with a production gun technically speaking.

I brought this up on here before and people didn't seem to love the idea of getting rid of all divisions and only having classes LOL

yeh good point if you think about it... Could eliminate division, and create more classes,, make the classes a bit tighter..
I just thought it was funny.. Because saying a 2011 is so much better a striker gun cant compete is saying classes dont matter.. but then then who's who seems to also think the overall doesnt matter.. So which is it ?

I never noticed that one lol. Yeah I was trying to say on occasion CO shooters have finished with a better score than anyone else in the match when you combine all the divisions.

Way easier to say that then the other thing.

so do the same people scared of single actions also get up set over that ?
I mean.. Why does the gun matter ? USPSA has a class system.. If I shoot an XDM and best I can do is B class. I am shooting against guys who can only make B class with an STI.. It doesnt matter if the gun give them an advantage.. Not until you hit GM,,, and then alot of those guys shoot what the sponsors tell them to.
Well unless you are either a grandbagger and shoot your classifiers wth a Jennings and compete with a stratoblaster 4000,, OR the combined results do matter and classes dont.

The battery in their watches is also not user replaceable.

However, there are guides on how to change them.

So I'm pretty sure somebody will figure it out over time.

Will be most likely just be a lipoly battery or something like that. Biggest challenge will be to open the unit without cracking the plastic enclosure.

But again, somebody will figure it out and it will be doable for somebody a little bit technically inclined.

After all I don't think Garmin is Apple yet and serialise the battery to the unit itself and so on(...fu Apple...)

no, but Garmin is very much into releasing products and allowing first wave of buyers to pay full price for the privilege of being a beta tester..
Manuals suck or dont exist, devices tend to be grossly over complicated with too many features that distract from their core use. Any issues will be met with lies of "This is first we heard of this".. No thanks.. Id give it a couple years before getting a new arena Garmin product

    FNG here again.

What does "(10.5.9) initially loading a revolver with a spurless hammer" refer to?

I did try to do a search here and on the www but without having a clue to prod me in the right direction, all I found are discussions on how horrible it is to lower a hammer on an SP-01 or the unabridged history of revolver design : ).

old school holdover verbage... Some revolvers you had to pull hammer back as you loaded or closed cylinder and spun it slightly to get it to lock in..  Spurell hammer is flush with frame, so only way to get it to come back slightly is to pull on trigger

But pragmatically speaking this only works for the first set of rounds.  If you get a high primer in your reload moonclip then you're effed anyways.

why I do it at home when I am loading the moonclips,  Just a prematch QC check.. before the loaded moons go in my ammo box. Can catch more than just a high primer,, and I am not fiddle farting with a loaded gun in front of everyone... Home alone I wont lose any cool points for a discharge.

we have had discussions about the make ready hokey pokey some people do.. Best you can do is ignore it..  even better is the Timmys and their tactical two steps  after they are done shooting...  Like dancing three or four steps to the left or right,, an exaggerated look around, before holstering.... Like dude. WTF are you trying to impress ? you look like an idiot.

Can also cut a coil or 2 off of the mag release spring

which will probably cause you to over push the release and end up binding the mag,,, that or dropping a mag while you are shooting because you bumped release with heal of left hand.   And yep done both and yep always use Plus XP mag release springs and dress the release.

My best suggestion to the Op is this manual...  While a couple arts are wide body specific the principles are the same and most parts will fit the same way.. Keep in mind 1911's/2011's are not modular.. They are made by many MFG, with tooling of various wear level and quality.. Almost all after market parts will be over sized and need to be hand fit. Its not just gonna go in and work like parts for many plastic guns.

  11. yeh Thats what I started looking for, only to see safariland pretty much stopped competition suitable rigs all together.
Speed beeze speedloader holders work fine for the 617,,,, you just have to adjust them for what ever brand of speed loader you are using.. Stating out I bought 1ea of three different brands... so was a bit of a pain at first.  Will shoot an email to (Chuck IIRC) at speed shooters about the rescomp.

We were told about 6-12 months ago price increases were coming but I am really surprised as to the most recent prices for various pistol and rifle smokeless powders. Most have gone up at least 25% and some have almost doubled. As primers start to slowly come down (very slowly) powder is going up. Makes me pause when I get ready for a range trip now as compared to several years back when I carried a variety of guns and lots of ammo.

Just hope the powder prices will settle and maybe eventually come back down (supply vs. demand).

predicted this years ago with all the consolidation going on.. Hodgdon buying out everyone creating a monopoly..  IMR, WIN, Western, Accurate, who is left ? Used to be VV was sky high, but the seem about the same Hodgdon has raised their prices to match.
With the primers so high I figured everything else would drop due to low demand

You are correct you don't need a holster for Rimfire.  The problem is the reloads on a field course, need some way to carry them.

yep , pretty much what you told me on first match,, wasnt really hard to put together a rig.. Speed loader holders are kinda brand specific.

  14. Saw at Speed shooters they have a few rescomps for revolvers.  I have one for my 6" limited gun from back in day.. Does this come with different size barrel studs ? I didnt see any assessories listed.. basically can I get a .22 stud to use with my 617 ?
ALthough... to be pedantic, I dotn think I need a holster for ICORE... rules are a bit contradictory.. figured I would just make things easier and get one though when the division went live last ? 2 years ago ?

I can find sport pistol now but it’s now in the mid $40 range for a pound. I’ve switched to AA2 and love it. Its price is rising quick too though.

took a trip to a scheels when they had federals for $69,,, limit 1 though... hey had clean shot,, which should be about the same as AA2 for $29.. so picked up a few lbs... I have a bunch of AA2.  Personally I think clays or sport pistol has got to be crazy high pressure to make 130 pf in a revolver with either 9mm or 38 short colt.|
As I am loading for ICORE  I am happy with 125 and the AA2 is a bit slower so should give me a larger margin of error in SC brass. I mean we are pretty far off the reservation far as published data goes.. scuttlebut does say,, starline uses same brass specs other then length for 38 SC 38 spc and 357,, So 38 spc + p pressure levels are ok with me..
Saw Scheels is now over $90 on federals,, so trying out YSracers Milwall. Seem to be last place for $69 feds. Talked to UPS guy today and worked something out..

Another rumor I am hearing is Alliant getting out of reloader powders and only selling to commercial loaders.

I recently was advised that me and one other from Area 4, were the only SCSA members requesting Limited Optics.

I started this topic on behalf of several friends who shoot LO in USPSA and were surprised and confused that it wasn’t approved by HQ for SCSA.

To those that have expressed their views against LO in SCSA, thank you for posting.

This topic has over 14,000 views (if I understand the 14k tag correctly).  Several have posted in favor of LO (thank you).  My opinion is only a small percentage of people who view/read topics make posts.

If you or any of your friends want LO in SCSA I would encourage you to send an email directly to @ZackJones at zack@uspsa.org

Hopefully, if enough emails are sent, Zack will be able to request the BOD’s to consider LO for SCSA.

weather is nasty,, more people on their computers...
Wouldnt matter to me really. SC seems to have a bunch of divisions.. Personally Id rather see revolver rimfire... as there actually is a competitive difference, unlike LO , Open and CO in SC.  Youd basically have 3 identical divisions.
Comps dont matter sub minor, and I think the slide/vs frame mount isnt as big a deal with single shots on target,,, but eh whatevs..  SC matches I shoot are pretty small and I pretty much only look at the straight up listings.

  17. I use the bulk Winchester, Bulk bucket of bullet remingtons,  Have a bunch of American eagle and fiochi probably 10 years old. Dont recall having any issues with any of them in either my 22/45 or 617. maybe the WIN once in a bluemoon go click.| Like the others above I use CCI mini mags for matches in both.
