No icore open shooters aren’t shooting uspsa revolver because they can’t use their dots.

changing a rule in USPSA based on that assumption is laughable.
ICORE open shooters arnt shooting USPSA revolver because they dont want to shoot USPSA with a revolver. They either shoot it with another gun or dont shoot it.
Its the stage designs, not the equipment.
I highly suspect there isnt an ICORE match that doesnt have USPSA match in the same or same general vicinity.

If the goal of the change is retention or the current shooters want it, I can see that.
If the goal is to attract a bunch of ICORE shooters that dont shoot USPSA,, by the time you take out the ones that shoot USPSA with an Auto,, or that dont shoot due to stage design or other reasons,,  you will be left with both guys I mentioned above.

I think the point about comps and ports is that while they dont do enough to matter the exclusion of them in USPSA would mean that anyone who does have ports or comps on their optic revo would not be able to use it in uspsa

you gotta change the rule to allow optic, no reason not to change it to allow comps and ports if the goal is to attract both those ICORE guys currently staying home from USPSA due to a no compensator rule.

He didn't say 3k gun it was the set up needed to shoot the division, when you look at gun, holster, moons, moon holder, mooning tools, extender cylinder release and a basic trigger job that allows you to shoot factory ammo and brings the trigger pull from the factory 14+ lb to 8-9lb you are in the 2k to 3k price range.

Also it is not uncommon to see ported barrels in SC and Icore open

may not be uncommon, but it is far from universal,, and also doesnt matter a lick in those games.
I mean if USPSA is gonna add dots they could just as easily ad comps as its not gonna matter at minor in a revolver.

Yet Cliff Walsh just won the 2024 Free State with a 6 shot 45 acp and a 178PF, quite handily too.  We had 4 other Master Revolvers.

and I think the guy that won Open ICORE at Rocky mountain was running a six shot with an old school tube style on  a rail mount and about 145 pf.. I was kinda surprised how many people on my squad were shooting over 140.. I was runnign 126 and was lowest one in my squad.

I've never understood the "minor sucks" thought process. Everyone I'm shooting against is scored the same as me. So there is no difference.

despite all the denials,, people look at the over alls,,, thats why they all buy improvements, even though in actual major matches buying improvement might bite you unless you are gunning for overall

.. I mean if you are top B with a Jennings, and you go buy a strato blaster 2000 just so you can now be last place A what have you accomplished ? Other than now you are a few rungs up in the overalls... Well until those few rungs go out and buy the stratoblaster 3000

Is item #2 accurate?  Aren't optic equipped revolvers used in ICORE and Bianchi?

    not really accurate..
Comps and ports are pretty irrelevant in 45-50 oz  revolvers shooting 120pf ammo.
Dont see many comps other than that make believe on hanging on the end of 6" 929's.
Most open guns I see are standard barreled 6 and 8 shot non ported. Despite rule change seems most stages are 6 shot neutral.

I call into question 1 B as well,, Im not seeing 3k revolvers,, In fact some of the guys I talk with specifically shoot revolver because its cheaper.. no mags, no extended base pads, more tolerant reloads.  Trigger job is a hair harder than a typical plastic fantastic, but not more so than a 1911.

Same with SC with a nonexistent power factor, cant see any point of not allowing comps or ports..

To be honest I highly suspect no amount of equipment rule changes will attract new revolver shooters to USPSA. The game as currently run simply isnt all that well suited to the platform.

I do agree though when contemplating rule changes, the BOD should ask the people that actually shoot the division, vs the general membership.

I get it…..but maybe not if you drop some of your fastest stages.

BTW….what confuses me a bit is how someone who hasn’t shot SCSA match in years can still be in the top 20 bases on percentage.

but why wouldnt you want to be classed based on your current abilities ?  Whats the point of using high scores you got 2 years ago if you cant do it any more ?

What is the hesitation making the SC and USPSA divisions the same?

Is this all CO and really PCCs fault? 🤣

well they pretty much did and created a bunch of silly divisions.. They have steel challenge divisions that are separated by things that absolutely dont matter in steel challenge.
Like power factor, mag funnels, capacity.

There are enough qualified and that want to go this year to fill the team. But if you mix irons and optics in the future, how do you qualify since its based-on match performance and IPSC world shoot is and iron sight division. So, can an optic shooter bump an iron sight shooter, this would be a bad precedence for other divisions

    top 10 qualified

you would have to have 2 divisions,, Iron and optics, and pick your team from those that shoot in Irons if its a match performance thing. No different than you wouldnt pick top CO shooter to shoot production. Optic revolver simply wouldnt be qualified, as there is no corresponding IPSC division.

After talking with some revo guys this weekend everyone said they didn't want optics in revo, and like one said how do you pick the world team since they don't allow it, so how would they qualify? There are a lot of things to consider before making changes without much thought on how it will affect those in the division.

Is anyone picking the world revolver team ? or is it,, umm is there anyone willing and able to go with a revolver ?

The problem is Open is dying. At some locals here I might see 1 or 2 open shooters shooting true open guns. Then one or two shooting something like a XC in minor.

Does that matter is the question. I'd say, at least no one seems to care. Most divisions are dying. Remember when Limited was one of the biggest divisions? Now Limited Nationals only get 44 shooters. Times change.

I called that years ago when CO dropped the magazine limits..
Said the Open guys would be hanging out with the revolvers after this generation ages out.
Not really any point in spending the coin on an open gun unless you just have an extra 10k laying around..
Can pretty much get same type of game with a 10th the cost and no special ammo.

I would LOVE to see more responses here.

I still love both of my XD-M Elites. I shoot them in IDPA for the past 3 years in both Local and Major Matches. I use everything Springer Precision has to offer. They are setup identical except one for ESP and one for CO. My ESP has Supressor Height Sights, and that is why I'm posting right now...

I would LOVE to find sights low enough that will allow me to run my 18 Round Magazines, with the Springer Precision Magazine Base Plates with the Factory Magwell - and still fit in the box.

Typically, I have to remove the Magwell and swap my base plates before a match because of my Supressor Sights.

If I could finds Sights low enough,  problem solved!

    Help??!!

    Mike

I would think Brownells, Midway, Dawson, etc etc will have sight options for you.

  13. Yeh but are the people shooting limited at area and nationals,  getting their classification with L10 hit factors ?
Havent kept up with rules, but dont a class in one gun now translate to other guns you havent shot ?
When I was in Hawaii they shot open and limited/ standard , but it was a 10 round state.. Classifier scores were being sent in as Limited... I brought it up and the Match director started sending them in to USPSA as Limited 10,,  granted at the time for most classifiers it didnt matter, but from what I have heard it may now.

  14. Division designed for 45 ACP ball ammo.
Complains about beating up gun when shooting it with 9mm.

I wouldnt want any limits on open,, open should be just that. I mean I doubt we would have the reloading techniques, powder combinations, gun tech, pistol comps, dots, race holsters, magnetic mag holders on and on if it wasnt for Open driving innovation.

All i can say is SA front sight has been the worst sight to ever remove and replace as that thing seemed welded on

I had heard the same,, I do have a sight pusher.. I won a set of trijicon sights,, and considering ordering them for my XDM 45. Gun will be back woods carry, so was thinking tritium would be way to go.

  16. You gus with the DAA I am fixing to order one,, how are they sized.. I mean directions say measure your waste,, but what waste ?
Butt naked ? wearing pants ? wearing pants with a liner belt ? My normal pants belt actual measurement tip of buckle to the hole I use ?
Why on earth cant they just post the actual measurement tip to tip ? Be so much easier..

  17. What happened with blues 147 ? cant say..
I buy 147 round nose .358 as I am loading them in 38 short colt revolver.. If I was a betting man, they are using the same molds for .358 to .355 and just runnign them through different sizers,, which might shave a bit.. your other 9mm only weights maybe are only being sized to one size

Had a long thread about these a while ago,, and several folks were getting same weight I was.. 148..
So basically I load to 125 pf assuming 147gr,,,  but declare 148 at chrono.  ( ICORE rule is 120) When I shot Bayou those bullets were advertised as 145 and my average was 146 with them. Running blues now since they sponsor the matches I shoot.

  18. I have found Hitek in that range to weigh a gr heavy or so.. Do you have calibration weights for your scale ? using a balance beam or digital ?  fans or ventilation cycling ?
I turn off fan and use a beam scale.. I have found blue 147 .358's to average 148 grs,, and really all the ones I have weighed pretty much come out right at that.

  19. did it always do this or did it just start ?
You check the measurements on the breach face ? is it an one piece slide or one of those switch or roo breach face jobs.. I looked at that pick and my first thought was you got a 40 or 45 slide trying to run 9mm

If Force = Mass * Acceleration

    147gr * 1096ft/s = 161,112grft/s - Titegroup 3.6g
    115gr * 1151ft/s = 132,365grft/s -   Titegroup 4.3gr

Then 147gr has 28kgrft/s more oomph than 115gr whatever that means.  147gr slaps!

nobody is running 147's at 1096 feet per second.  The question really is will 147's knock down steel better when loaded to the same power factor as a 124 or 115...

Old school power factor was originally calculated by hitting a steel pendulum and seeing how far it swung when hit. "minor" was calibrated using basic 9mm ball,, probably 124's back then,, and major with 45acp ball.

I would think bullet design has an affect ( effect ?)  as well.. A bullet that hits and mushrooms and falls down, will transfer more energy than one that bounces , ricochets  or fragments in all directions.
