  1. I just got a Dawson Super Tuned Edge, and shot it for the first time tonight. I absolutely love it. The one thing that I noticed about it is that it get really hot after 100+ rounds. Is this normal? The pistol is hadchromed, I have a stainless Para 16-40, and a blued STI Trojan neither gets as hot as my Edge.
  2. Thanks for all the help. I guess I will just shoot it for a month, and go from there. I have 2000 rounds loaded, and waiting. I hope it will be here this week. I think I will just order my CR Speed Holster, and get ready for gun games.
  3. I ordered a Super Tuned STI Edge from Dawson Precision. I ordered 4 extra magazines, 5 Dawson +1 basepads, and 5 grams followers and springs. What else do I need? I was thinking a tungsten guide rod, 12.5 spring, and an oversized mag release. What do you guys think?
  4. Masterblasters are good. I like Precision a little more. They do not smoke as much, and seem a little more accurate. I shoot them both out of my glock all the time.
  5. I was considering getting an open gun later this year, and was looking at the Trubor, and the Grandmater. I don't see many differences between them. The obvious is the trigger and finish but I don't see a whole lot more. Can let me know what the differenced are? Thank in advance.
  6. I have a 16-40, and had a little trouble with it at first. It just did not feed well. After polishing the feed ramp, and putting 700-800 rounds through it, it runs smooth. I will say this, I like my Para, but there is a huge difference in quality between it, and my STI Trojan. If you are looking for a single stack I would go with a STI Trojan 5" or 6" for an entry, and any of there other single stacks. I plan on getting a Range Master this year. I know I can't use it in the single stack division, but I really like that pistol.
  7. I just got my Para, and I am looking for load data using WST powder. I was looking for a load with 180gr, or 200gr JHP/FMJ or even a 185gr Precision bullet at 1.170 to 1.180 O.A.L. I found a couple of loads with titegroup, I am going to try, but nothing loaded long with WST. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

I got my pistol back, I just have not had time to measure. I have not even had time to shoot it since I got it back. I should get it done before the week is up.
  9. If you were using another Dillon press, I would tell you to get a Lee Factory Crimp Die. It will size all of your brass back to normal. I use one for all of my calibers, and it is great. I use the same brass for my Glock 21, and my STI Trojan with no problem. I have a KKM barrel in my G24, and all I use is range brass with no issues at all. I don't know what you can do besides what was mentioned earlier about getting a cheap hanloader just for resizing, or sell your press and upgrade to a 550B or a 650. Christmas is coming up, you should treat yourself.
  10. Heinie/Dawson combo sights, Dawson Ice magwell, and Arredondo basepads. I run that on my limited G24. Along with a tungsten guide rod, 14lbs ISMI spring, KKM barrel, and a 2.5 lbs trigger. I use my G34 for production, so I have the Heinie/Dawson sights, and the 2.5lbs trigger on it. If you are going to shoot Production you can't have any external modifications. If you are going to shoot limited, I suggest a G35, or a G24. Here is a pic of my setup.
  11. I run a Glock in Limited, so my load is not as long. I use 4.1 gr of WST, Federal small pistol primer @ 1.135. It make power factor out of a Glock 24(6" barrel). I like titegroup, but it smokes to much for me with Precision bullets, which sucks because I have about 2lbs of it left, and all I shoot is Presicion bullets now. WST has a lot less smoke, and a very mild recoil.
  12. +1 on the Zero JHP's. Accuracy is great, and is my prefered IPSC bullet.
  13. I like this trigger, I shot a pistol with one, and loved it. This is on Dave Sevighy's custom 1911. Thanks in advance.
  14. I have been reloading for a little while now, and I have always tried to stay close to recipes, to stay safe. I always use small pistol primers for standard loads, magnum primers for magnum load...ect. I have read people using rifle primers in some of there competition loads, or even small magnum primers. What is the advantage to doing this? Thanks in advance.
  15. I am going to start loading for my G34 again. Everything else is getting so expensive, I figure practice with 9mm is the cheapest route besides 22. I was looking at the 125gr Precision bullets. I love the 185gr for 40, and 230gr for 45, so I figured I'll give the 9mm bullets a try. I was wondering if anyone has a good minor load. I have Titegroup, Clays, WST, N310, and N340 on my shelf. Thanks in advance.
  16. I started using Titegroup, and it was too much smoke, after research, and a lot of questions I switch to WST. It works great, and a lot less smoke. It is right under N320 on the burn rate chart, and it recoils almost the same. It is a lot cheaper than N320 also. My load before switching to Black bullets was VV N320, and Zero JHP's. I am happy with black bullets, and WST.
  17. GFL=Guilio Fiocchi - Lecco, I reloaded it, and never had a problem with it. It shoots just like any normal brass. Stay away from A-MERC, it is absolute garbage.
  18. I'm ordering some 185 Gr Precision SWC's today, and need a good starting point to make major power factor out of a 5" STI Trojan. I am using Clay's, and Federal primers. Thanks in advance.

As soon as I get it back. It is being refinished right now. It being a G20, the slide is going to be wider, and the barrel is a little bigger than a G24. I'll measure it when I get it back.

It's an Aro-Tek Ultimate competition package. I just use it as a fun gun. It works well, there is almost no recoil. I have not run it in competition. The reason I got it was because of the price. It was from an estate sale, and the gun range that I go to had it on consignment. The gentlemen who owned it previously, had over 100 guns and barely fired it. It still had the factory lube on it when I bought it. I only paid $425 for it. It's almost $1400 from Aro-Tek. Right place, at the right time I guess. You might want to try here Novak Customs. They offer a bunch of services for open Glocks.

Here is a picture of my 2nd gen G20 Aro-Tek custom(currently being refinished). If you notice the holes increase in size down the length of the barrel.
  22. Myself, and a co-worker both run the Dawson Ice magwell with Arredondo basepads. It is a great combo, neither of us ever had a problem with it.
  23. +1 on the Lee factory crimp die. I run Dillon, or Redding Dies for all stations except the last (Dillon 550B). I run a Lee factory crimp die for all my calibers. I have KKM barrels in my glock 20, and 24. I have never had a problem chambering a round. I work at a gun range so all of my brass is mixed ranged brass. I have run brass through that has an obvious bulge in it, and all were sized back to spec with the LCD.
  24. I'm using WST right now for my G24, but with lead bullets. I use 4.7 grains for 168gr bullets for major. Never tried precision. What OAL are you using with this load? 5.0 grains was major with a jacketed bullet in my g24. that was with WST What Bullet, and OAL are you using with this load? Thanks for the help.
