I tried to convince my boss to buy one at work, but somehow he isn't that excited about this idea. Something along the line: we are a software company, why the hell would you need a milling machine
What do you mean for what? To mill precise slots in boxes for your software so that the software does not run away.

Anybody been brave enough to chop one up and try turn it into an open gun? Would you have to go cone comp?
I wouldn't do it, because its dust cover is relatively short. Less than Commander.
maybe with longer barrel it will be better choice .

Bul tbh...
I've know folks shooting SPS, STI (pre DVC), custom Guns. Major PF standard or open, but I've seen none crack as frequent or fail at low round count.
I usually take care of few types of club guns, including STI , which after 100k seem to be in much, much better condition than some of the other brands after 10k

gun is .
the only part that i didn't liked it was the holster

I have it from one of the distributors in Europe that they keep cracking.
Not the greatest track record on cracked slides/frames either.
Which brand is a leader in this field?

Is it possible that the sear was fit to the safety and not the other way? I have seen this done before.
yes.
i always do this way in all types of guns cz and 2011/1911 guns. because if you want to replace internal parts with something else, the safety will not be damaged.
sear cost 10-20$
safety 100$-$200

Buffer not an issue. I've ran with and without no differences. I just installed it to hopefully save the slide stop.
no relation between buffer and slide stop service life.
and to tune properly CM mags You have to press the grooves all along the track ,because most of their mags are made with internal dimensions that are not suitable for proper work with 9mm ammo.
unfortunately it is not the only wrong thing in this mags.

They seem to be sold out everywhere, but this gives you an idea..

I thought there were other companies that manufacture for their frames.

Well, for 4.5k you could just get another brand new limited optics gun. Lol
At least 2 2011 and if you make an effort then 3 is also possible. And there are those who would buy 6 new Glocks at this price.

A talented tig welder and an average machinist could fix that

@Cam73 thanks for the info, very helpful. Also for the 74 degree cutter source. I did see your build and looks very nice. I have a Prodigy and will do a drawing off of that eventually. Just need to find the time.
@aandabooks Good idea on the rotary table. The thought did cross my mind, but I don't have one, and don't have access to one. Also, I can't remember ever using one, so it would probably be more trouble than it's worth. If that radius was critical, I'd look into it. But, since it's not, I'll just do it by hand.

Except for the radius on the back of the raised ridge it's straight mill work. The radius you can probably just cut square as I don't think it'll matter much. Trickier is the angled cut at the back unless you have the right dovetail cutter.
Even for this radius, if it is important, a creative solution can be found. The only question is if it is worth the price.

It’s weird how this is an issue on the shadows but not on the TSO.
most TSO run without buffers.
I guess there’s a geometry difference. There is no connection between the crack in this area and the use or lack of use of the buffer.
The only connection to the crack in sh2 is lack of use of vitamin B12 by the designer of the sh 2 frame.

Hey guys,
Just about wrapped up with this one and thought I would post a few pictures. The plan started out as a general use range pistol.
Notes:
Panel cuts will get blasted, but just like my first build, I am still struggling with tool marks.
Are you ever really done blending? A good close up makes the thing look like it was blended with a rasp
i thought it's stippling
nice work.

You are 100% right. I saw this problem on my 2016 model without the accu bushing and made a longer one rod bigger diameter from tungsten with a large cone on the end.

The safety should swap into other TS models and the Shadow 2 (the Shadow 2 I am not 100 percent on)
safety from sh2 fit TSO .

better for whom ? not to me. i prefer the old type.
If they really wanted to make a radical change they could put it higher on the rear sight
Does the TSO Tactical Sport Orange (not TS2) have the same crack failures as early Shadow 2s?

We have several TSO guns in the club that have fired over 100K and everything is ok. On the other hand, although sh 2 from the old generation, the frame hold only 3k- 8k .smart design
