Data point of 1: For me, my first SC match was in October 2017 (Tier II match, four hour drive one way). Joined USPSA the same day I registered for the event so I would have a membership number for SC. I had not shot any SC matches prior to this one, but I had competed in Rimfire Challenge. Similarly, I had not previously competed in any USPSA events, and still have not entered any USPSA matches.

I would stick with what you currently have and upgrade anything you feel is an issue. I shoot a Buck Mark pistol, and the only thing I've changed is the extractor. TANDEMKROSS Eagle's Talon extractor all but eliminated the only issue I was having (stovepipes). I've reached M class so far in RFPI, and it isn't the pistol keeping me from moving up to GM. ?

I made a trip to Wilson Combat on Friday as I was interested in their AR9 Carbines. They had two in stock: one Glock, one Beretta. The Wilson Rep I spoke to recommended the Beretta mag version over the Glock version. He said the Beretta receiver seems to have less issues with stock magazines. He said they weren't having any issues with either the stock Beretta or Mec-Gar Beretta 92 mags. He recommended that if I went with the Glock receiver to make sure to get the newer mags and then upgrade the mag spring to a stronger spring.
