  1. Very well deserved. Your work for the sport doesn't go unnoticed. It is much appreciated. Tony
  2. Very Nice. Hmmm. I could use another black rifle. Just because. Maybe I'll start shopping.
  3. I'll be looking forward to that one.
  4. I liked the opening chase scene. When it was over I thought, "Awesome,..... I wonder what that was all about." Fast cars thrashing about is cool, but I kind of like to know who is being chased and why.
  5. Singlestack, if you run will you promise to take singlestacks away from people who have too many and give them to folks with too few????? Seems like a winning platform these days. My 1911's will NOT be redistributed. Let the great unwashed masses get their own. MOLON LABE! Tls
  6. Forget progressives. They are fine for everyday use but will not help you on the range. You need a pair of lenses that are designed for this specific task. Listen to Scout454 for he is wise. Tls
  7. I have to say I was disappointed. "Casino Royale" was one of the best Bond films in a while. I expected the same of "Quantum" but it fell short. I thought the directing was poor, and the photography was shabby. The camera always seemed to be bouncing around like a hand held home movie. No plot, just a lot of helter skelter mayhem. Tony
  8. Gameplayer, I guess the question I would ask is are you far or nearsighted. I am farsighted. Distance vision is fine but cant focus on anything close without reading glasses. I got a set of prescription shooting glasses from Decot and they made all the difference. They don't have as much magnification that my reading glasses do. They are designed to give a slight magnification. This gives the best compromise between the sights in focus an the down range targets in focus. I can see my sights fine and the targets are slightly out of focus but not enough to bother me. I also shoot an open gun when the spirit moves me, and it requires no prescription whatsoever. In fact if I mess up and shoot the dot gun with my Decots, it blurs the dot. I shoot the open gun with my Oakley sunglasses and they work beautifully. The right set of lens may help you quite a lot. I couldn't shoot irons without mine. Tony
  9. Nemo, ... where are you? Don't keep me in suspense. Voting rights ?????
  10. When I took my level I RO seminar, the instructor started to talk about some of the ways people cheat and what to watch for. I was totally blown away. I never even considered the possibility that someone would cheat in one of our competitions. I can't begin to get my head wrapped around it. Where in lies the honor or glory or satisfaction or whatever winning brings, if you won it falsely. I couldn't look at a trophy I'd won in that fashion. It would be cheap and meaningless. Why would anyone do such a thing? What would be the point? Tls
  11. Fellow snobs, Having shot my SS in a Major match (and several club matches since) I now have the requisite evidence laid down in the bylaws. Also, my first SS classifer has been recorded on the USPSA website. Hillbilly Classic Match Date: 10/10/2008 Combined divisions - These are NOT official results. 12. Wow. It's been a long time since listening to the "National Anthem" gave me chills. Thanks for sharing that. Tony
  13. What this match needs is a few more guys shooting SS minor. That should make things even more interesting. Tls
  14. Sky diving seems to be a popular choice. Not on my list. I'll fly the plane, the rest of you can jump out of it.
  15. Oooh. I guess I should have done a search first. I'm beginning to wonder if there's any topic that hasn't been discussed on this forum .
  16. Mine is pretty short but here goes: Places to visit- Alaska- just because I've always wanted to see it. Neavitt, Maryland on the Cheasapeake Bay - the ancestral home of my father's family. Things to accomplish: Learn to fly an airplane. Make Master in IPSC, maybe win a match somewhere, sometime. (Right now I'd settle for my "A" card)
  17. I recently saw the movie "The Bucket List" (which I thought was very good). It was about two guys that meet in the hospital. Both have terminal diseases and they set out together to do all the things they want to do in life before they "kick the bucket". They made a list and came to call it "the bucket list". I don't think such a list should be reserved for short timers. This is something everyone should have and should work at. We all have things we'd like to see, experiences we'd like to have, places to go etc. I don't have a formal list but I do have a couple of things in mind. Do you have a "bucket list"? If so, what's on it? Tls
  18. Two major knee surgeries in that time period limited my mobility. Man that's tough. All I can say is get yourself a dot gun and keep moving forward. Good Luck. Tony
  19. Gameplayer, Hate to see you go, but sometimes we have to do things we don't want to. However, just to satisfy my curiousity,..... How exactly does one practice "for two years (ten months with a single stack)" and not fire a shot in a match?
  20. In this situation there is only one thing to do. Beat him. Every time he shows up you need to make it your mission in life to top his score. If you can't do it now, work at it until you can. You'll feel much better. Tls
  21. I can hook Z up with photos. BTW... I have NEVER even seen Boz with a 1911. With Photoshop I could produce photographic evidence that Boz shot a match while wearing Superman's cape and fuzzy pink house slippers. I think were going to need eye witnesses and sworn testamony. Tls Tls
  22. Gary, I was researching magazines when I came across this post. It brings up an interesting question. If you get bumped to open due to equipment, can you shoot the rest of the match with an open gun? I am well aware that 5.1.7 states that you must use the same handgun and sights for all courses of fire unless your gun becomes unsafe or unserviceable. In that event, you can change to a different gun if there is no significant advantage to the change (5.1.7.2). This rule is clearly intended to prevent competitors from changing guns on a stage by stage basis to gain an advantage. However, under these circumstances, where you have been pushed into the Open division due to equipment, you gain no advantage by switching for the rest of the match. If fact you are at a considerable disadvantage if you do not. I can't see why it shouldn't be allowed. Tony
  23. Congratulations Lynn. Marriages that last don't just happen. You have to work at it. I hope you have many more anniversaries to celebrate. My wife and I have been married 35 years. That will become 36 in March. The secret to a successful marriage isn't that hard to figure out. As long as the following equation is true, you will stay married. Love > Aggravation It's just that simple. Tony
  24. M ammo, I can't disagree with anything written here. As I said, it burns hot, and produces smoke. However, I still think it has redeeming qualities. Taken on the whole, TG is a very servicable powder. There are plenty of other powders and everyone has their favorite. I didn't mention mine because you specifically asked about Titegroup. In fact, my powder of choice for the .40 is N320. (I also like N340 with 200gr slugs) Sadly, it is not always readily available and is expensive. Titegroup is my second (or third) choice in the .40 and I use it when my stock of Viht is running low. I especially like TG in the .45 My pet load for my 45 Edge is the MG 200 gr. JFP over 5.2 grs of Titegroup. Performance is outstanding and the lower operation pressures of the .45 don't seem to create the heat that everyone finds so objectionable. If you wander over to the 9mm forum you will find many who swear by the 147 gr bullets with TG. My advice to you is to buy a small quantity of it and try it. If you don't like it move on to something else. Tls
