  1. Sorta wish I bought a 40 sw M&P core so i could slap a 9mm threaded barrel and be set. now I am looking for anyone who has a .40sw slide. TIA
  2. Just got put on the waitlist for BOTACH best deal out there free shipping no tax for no minimum. 3-5 mags for 24$ each 6+ mags 23$each
  3. I dont have enough posts to see inside the classifieds besides the free and brass stuff
  4. I just got certified for drawing from the holster at my local range and man is that a completely different feeling have a loaded gun pointed at yourself. I was really nervous at first and had a hard time just thinking and going through the steps, the AR shooter a few lanes down emptying his mag with a compensator was not helping either. After the range master went over it a few times and corrected two of my methods I started calming down and getting more and more relaxed. After 5 minutes he said I was good to go and then I was by myself and now completely relaxed. Glad I got a Safariland Els set up with holster, 2 handgun mag pouches,4 normal locking systems, 1 holster locking system, and AR mag pouch. Especially when one of the members gave me a 40% off coupon code.Down the road I might switch to a Bladetech holster for my M&P so I don't have to clear so much holster from my level 2 retention Safariland holster.
  5. I just ordered another 1000 rounds from Freedom Munition while they were doing the 5% off Shot Show deal. Also going to send them 46.5 pounds of brass, so after everything 70$ off for a final price of 140$.
  6. Thank you for all the responses. I am currently shooting my M&P about 80% of the time at the range but my Glock 19 is my CCW. I have been practicing drawing with both firearms, I didn't know you started from surrender so thats good to know. I am lucky I live 5 mins from my range and they allow drawing from a holster and fast shooting, after they verify you are a safely handling.
  7. OK first off I set an alarm for my steel challenge match on the second Sunday of January. I work up on Sunday all ready to go to my first match and I looked at my clock and I woke up late. I set my alarm on a weekday schedule, so I woke up at 930 when I set my alarm for 730 for the 9 start time. Now I have more experience shooting so I don't mind missing the event but it would have been nice just to go to my first steel challenge event. I now have a Safariland ELS belt system with a holster for both my Glock 19 and M&P Core. Had two single 9mm magazine pouches but I ordered the left handed ones thinking I was using my left hand to reload. Called Safariland and got a order number and sent my two magazine pouches back for right handed ones. Starting from low ready from my understanding gave you -3 seconds, so its nice being able to practice my draw safely with my finger off the trigger. Now my first question is for my Glock 19. I will be shooting production with the 19 with; warren tactical sights,3.5 ghost trigger bar,gen4 magazine button, and gen 4 slide stop. can shoot production with this set up? Last question is for my M&P 5" Core. Should I shoot two guns in production or use the M&P in its current state with Apex flat faced trigger kit and s.s non captured guild rod w/ 13lb ISMI spring in Limited? I am not looking to go for the fastest time sense this is my first match but I would like more experience sense matches are limited and adding one gun is just 5$ making it a 15$ total for the match. Just thought of this question, should three 17 round magazines be fine for a match? I have seven magazines for the Glock but three for the M&P.
  8. Good to know I got two of the 773's for my M&P 9 and Glock 19 . They fit the Glock 19 magazines fine but I had to tighten the top to the point the screw hit the plastic for the M&P magazines. Safariland has nice products but their shipping takes forever and my "custom" holster for my M&P 5" with light is made so so. the little plastic nub that your barrel rests in is jacked to one side so it hits my barrel on one side every time but its plastic Is it legal to have a holster that has an open end? my Bladetech for my Glock is open.
  9. Hey I had a girlfriend who had hands like a 1/4" bigger than mine. She was a German girl around 5'6". I am only 5'9" and weight 165lbs but I have small Asian hands and the M&P is nice for smaller hands. I use the medium size core grips with my M&P 5" CORE, used the small grips first but they were a little to small for me and I found the girth of the medium was better for me. If she has really small kid hands go with a S&W shield or Glock 43 single stacks. If your really nice go buy her a 1911. Single stacks are very thin, some think the .2" or whatever is not much but the feel of a single stack is very different. But most importantly go take her to a range that has a lot of firearms they rent out and have her shoot them. Many men buy firearms for the women in their lives and buy a gun that they personally like not a gun that is suited to their partner.
  10. http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=39490 Just found this link like 6 posts down 25 each mag and free shipping after 100$ done!
  11. I currently have 3 mags for my M&P 5" Core and was looking into trying to find around 2-3 more mags. I am trying to find the best place for lowest price new 17rd S&W mags or used S&W mags. I bought my 3rd mag at a local gun shop that had a box full of used mags prob 50mags and only found one 17rd mag for my M&P. I have also scanned the forum classifieds for mag but if I do find them the thread is a few months old and mags sold. Best price i have found besides forum classifieds was a locally gun shop(1 hr drive to the store).Quantico Tactical in Lakewood,WA Sold new S&W M&P 17rd mags for 29.99 each or 78.00 for 3 pack. I would also have to pay tax and 10$ shipping so about 96$ after everything. But deals for all you outside WA so you could get a great deal.
  12. I bought a Wolff lower powered striker spring from SSS, I would have tried the Apex lower power spring but I didn't get it in my Apex flat faced kit. Apex competition striker spring out of stock on SSS. It was a 4 dollar spring and I just wanted to try it sense I was getting frame plug, non captured guide rod and flat 13lb spring. I would not personally get the spring if you are not wanting light strikes. Had about 7-8 light strikes in around 70 rounds. The spring will lower your trigger pull 3/4 of a pound but its not worth the lack of reliability.
  13. i just got the light powered striker spring from SSS and shot about 70 rounds of Freedom Munitions Blaster 9MM and had about 4-5 light strikes. Put my stock on back in and no light strikes.
  14. they just came out with new glock 19 and 17 with Optic slide cuts/plates at 2016 shot show. Higher sights might even be metal too not sure though.
  15. I got a new SSS non captured 5" guild rod, 13lb spring, and a lower powered striker spring. Put everything in and did a little but of light sanding on the locking lug and where the trigger bar meets the plunger. Went to the range to test out the new set up and I had light strikes on 3-4 rounds out of around 35-40rounds. I like how the new striker spring makes the trigger 3/4 lb lighter and it felt like it too. I know the new striker spring is most likely causing the light strikes but could it be the lighter guild rod spring? Also noticed that on all my brass the strike was not a nice little pin point it had like a small rectangle mark(looks like it got mushed)and oblong striker mark.
  16. Thanks for the info blasta. I have shot around 1000 rounds through it and only notice the chip in the barrel after the first cleaning after first 200 rounds. The barrel shoots fine and everyone I have asked said it wont affect anything. I don't trust my groups outside 10 yards but next time I have an experienced shooter i will ask if he can shoot a group at 25 yards. I have maybe shot 25-50 rounds at 25 yards I normally shot at 5-7 yards.
  17. hey guys I don't have enough posts to post anywhere so i just thought about adding it here Hey guys I noticed this a while ago but thought it was fine b.c I didn't have anything to compare it to. Now that I got a Glock 19 to compare my M&P core. I don't know what the part is called but its where the barrel lugs meet the lower on a metal part. The picture below shows the S&W on the left and Glock 19 on the right. Seems like the factory welded the part and didn't do a good job sanding it down. Should I just sand it down and call it good or should I send it back to Smith & Wesson. I also had a chip in the rifling of my S&W so I was thinking sending the whole gun in but wanted to ask you guys first. Barrel chip in rifling
  18. I have shot about 100 rounds through my M&P a day for the last 3 days. This is the most shooting I have done and I am starting to get a eye twitch. It started on the end of the second day. I know I should be shooting with both eyes open but I find it easier closing my non dominant eye. I did the eye test and right eye was dominant. I was taught 10-15 years ago shooting Daisy B.B gun rifles to shot with both eyes open and use my left eye closer to the gun and right eye behind. I still find this method easiest method. I probably just need to take a rest so my eye doesn't twitch but wanted to ask you guys.
  19. Thanks guys I will try to read some rule but last time I did, I didn't get to far way to boring.
  20. Quick question for competition pistols with a light like a Streamlight TLR. What class can have lights mounted?
  21. Yeah I have been doing some research on Steel Matches and the one are RFGC in renton this weekend is the one I would like to start at. But my Sarariland level 2 retention holster, comp belt, and all the mag holders 2 pistol mag holders,1 ar15 mag holder, and a few sets of locking ELS system. I have been watching matt larson or something on youtube he has shot some steel in my area of WA. I finally finished my Apex Flat Faced Trigger Kit. Noob mistake and tried to punch out the small black cap by the beaver tail and arrow in the very beginning. took an hour trying to get the piece that holds the forward facing sear. Another 30 minuets trying to find the video on how to remove the plastic slide on the rear slide. Took about 2 1/2 hours total.
  22. Hey everyone my name is John Yi. I just joined this forum about a week ago and glad I found it. First time shooting was around the age of 14-15. I built an AR about 4 months ago. Then join a range shortly after the build. Went around 10 times or so to the range and just practiced and tried to pick up stuff from youtube and range officers, or whoever had more experience than myself. I bought a shot timer around 6 visits into the range membership and that made me enjoy going to the range. Had a lot more to offer than just shooting paper by itself. Shortly after I bought the shot timer I purchased a M&P PRO CORE 5". First I just tried to learn how to shot the handgun sense it involves a lot more than a rifle. First time going to shoot the pistol and I was shooting left about 4-5 inches roughly. Looked up grip and stance techniques. Went to 30/40% dominate hand 60/30% weak hand, and shot much better. still had a lot of work in my mind but a night and day difference. I always thought you used 100% of your grip when shooting so I go back to old habits when I am not completely focused, especially when new shooters are at the range. I am also a member on ar-15.com,3gunnation,boomershooter.com As of right now I joined a new range on 1-3-16, about 2 miles less than 5 mins from my house. Old range was 10 miles away maybe 20-30 mins drive depending on traffic. New range closes range down at 7:55 which is nice sense my old range closed at 6:30. After I shot my buddies M&P Pro with apex full internals sub 3 pound pull I knew I wanted one. I am now waiting for my Apex Flat Faced Kit,Jerry Micuelk Comp.,JP 3.5 lb trigger spring kit. Apex comes today with a Apex builders block. Comp and spring kit come Friday Cars, Motorcycles, and Snowboarding were my main hobbies. I had my 2006 GSXR 1000 stolen this summer, Now after my 3rd motorcycle I am going to stay away from them for a while. Then was rear ended at a dead stop on the freeway at 40+, severe low back problems and a partial torn neck tendon for a few month. A little better now but still not even close to being healed. Thus not being able to snowboard/longboard and cant work on cars anymore. After my car accident I knew I would have a lot of free time with no real hobbies besides taking care of my 11 month old puppy, Duke. Hes supposed to be half Mini Doberman and half Jack Russel Terrier, he weighs 38 pounds so I think hes a mut of some sort. I then looked into Firearm ownership. Now a few thousand dollars and 4 months later I am offically addictied to firearms and shooting, hopefully adding competition shooting soon as my back allows it. Thus I am reading into steel shooting events because of the lack of movement.
